! My hair also feels kind of dry. The reason why I took my hair down is for the Hollidays , I am going home on Monday(my parents have not seen my hair in forever). What should I do ( I am really worried about the broken hairs) ? Should I do a co wash and flat-iron again? Here is what I did:
1. Washed 2xs with Mizani PuripHying poo (clairfied)
2. Redkens ALL SOFT Heavey Cream co, left on 30min w/ HC
3. Applied Surge to scalp
4 Applied a CD Hair milk ( it made my hair sort of oilly)
5. Air dryed
Did I do something wrong

I'd try a moisturizing shampoo followed by a protein conditioner or reconstructor and a moisturizing conditioner. I just tried AFfirm 5 in 1 which was great. I only had two shed hairs today and no breakage. Yesterday I had one broken strand.

Listen, if your hair is dry get rid of the Surge (temporarily) that stuff is loaded with protein. Normally if someone has breakage I would say get a protein treatment for the breakage but since your hair is already dry and we all know protein will make it even dryer I would opt for deep conditioning. I was experiencing a little breakage last month,a couple of hairs a day,not much but to me it was alot because I was used to having almost no breakage. Anyway what I did was give my hair what I call a " 1 week therapy treatment" basically do not use anything that could be potentionally drying to the hair, that means no protein and no shampoos. What my week therapy consisted of was this: Day 1 do a condition wash, then deep conditioner with heat for 20 minutes, rinse then apply my usual leave in products. Repeat this every other day so by the end of day 5 you should have gotten 3 deep conditioning treatments. By day 7 your hair is moisturized enough to handle a protein treatment. Do your protein treatment and then follow up with another deep conditioning treatment and this should eliminate your breakage. It did wonders for me.

I used to have the same experience when I flat-ironed my hair. It's the reason why I hardly use my flat iron any more. I think that it is inevitable to totally eliminate all breakage. You'll still experience some. The best advice I can offer you is to try not to manipulate your hair so much. I would also advise you not to flat-iron your hair so soon. I just think you'll make it worse.

Thanks Tee Tee and BF, I need all the advice I can get. My hair as been soo soft and I have had very little shedding for the past few months. This incident has really freaked me out!!! Maybe, I do a dobbie and leave the surge out until I return to my bun (sat.27th).

What did you use for your deep conditioner each day?

I am in the same situation. my hair is shedding and breaking like crazy. I have actually been dealing with this for almost six years. Since my pregnancy with my son. I always had strong, shiny and thick hair. But once I got pregnant with him, everything changed. I've gone natural, had braids and even wore it conditioner curly for several months. I am at a loss. Even the pros haven't been able to solve the problem. Right now my hair is ear length and even. I don't blow dry or use a curling iron. I roller set every three days. I did an Aphogee two days ago and even as I respond I am under the dryer with a mayo conditioner. Help save my hair. My goal is 4 inches below bra strap by fall '05.

Hi Raquel,

I use Optimum Care Rich Conditioner for my deep conditioning treatments. I love this stuff and it smells yummy. The other day my 5 year old asked me if he could eat my hair......LOL... because it smelled so good

Hey Tee Tee,

I can not agree with you more. I was very afraid of the co Washes at first, but I tried it and to my surprise, GIRL THAT WAS IT! My hair never looked better, it was a nice rich black color(healthy), no breakage, AT ALL. I have NEVER, EVER HAD NO BREAKAGE. Thanks for that posting. I wish I had knonw this before, I think of all the times I went to my hair stylist, and she never knew this..

When was the last time you used a clarifying shampoo? Sound like you might have product buildup on your hair. Try this before using more protein.
