I have am a recent twa-er and I have decided to hide my hair under a wig for my family's annual thanksgiving party. Certain people in my family are very anti-natural hair along with their friends, and I already know there's going to be a lot of unwanted attention and disapproving looks soo.. I didn't realize Thanksgiving was next week for some reason I thought it was the week after. So I need to get a wig with the quickness. I have already seen a few wigs that might work. I would prefer a wig that's similar to natural hair, but so far I've seen a couple of straight hair wigs that look decent. And I definitely don't want anything longer than the second pic.

I would love one of these Catherine Marion wigs, but I'm not dropping $300 on a wig for a one night occasion. Does anyone know any cheaper wigs that are similar in style???

NikkiQ Definitely not a lacefront. Full cap is fine. I feel like my hair is too short to wear a half wig. Isn't the case with a half wig, is that half of your hair or the front of your hair is out or something like that?? My hair's only like 2 inches long when stretched out.

Yeah a half wig is usually worn back off the hairline with your own hair blending over the edge of the cap. I've seen quite a few cute wigs on hairsisters.com. Not sure how quickly you can get it if you need it next week though.

Thanks! I will check that website out!! They must have rush shipping.

Seriously? You are going to spend possibly $300 on a Catherine Marion wig because you don't want to deal with disapproving looks and unwanted attention?

There are a lot of anti-natural people in the world but they will get over it.

If you really need a wig fast, it's best if you just drive to a wig store and try on some hair. If you order something on-line, pay for rush shipping and then hate the wig you are in a jam presuming you really do want to cover up your new TWA.

If you like the natural look, PUFFY from It's a Wig brand is a good option. It's a full cap wig but if you wanted to blend your hair with it you could. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it and it has a lot of good reviews on Youtube.

Also if you are into the short look, you can't go wrong with the MOMMY wig by Janet Collection. For this wig, you put water or whatever styler you want and fluff out the finger waves and it looks like curls. It has tons of reviews on Youtube and it lasts forever. Don't go by the picture-it is so much cuter when you fluff it out with water and style it.

Umm, I clearly said I was not going to drop $300 on a wig especially if it's for a one night occasion. :look: I am going to go to a beauty supply store, but I was asking the hair community if they had any recs for wigs. Rush shipping is not going to break my finances. I was planning on ordering a couple and returning the ones I don't like.

Aww, I wish you could use that as your hair coming out party. Does your family not know you are natural? Are you always going to throw a wig on around your family or are you just trying to build up your courage? I would suggest It's a Wig Cap Weave Human Hair Swirls & Curls - Charming Curl. It is a $40 dollar human hair wig that is full cap and very comfortable/realistic when styled. I have this one and I get a lot of compliments.

I never implied that rush shipping would "break" your finances.

I could recommend 50 wigs but until you try them on yourself and see how they look on you, it won't mean much. Not to mention, the BSS you visit may not have the wigs that are recommended. If you are in a rush to get a wig, driving around trying to find a recommended wig locally is probably not the best use of your time.

I own and often wear Vanessa La Efrah and Vanessa La Aleka. I have only seen La Aleka in my local BSS, never on-line. It's shorter than La Efrah and suitable for work, for me.

Beshe Shelly is nice: http://goingnaturaltransitionington...styles/beshe-shelly-wig-protective-hairstyle/

And I like La Jay but I cut a lot of it: http://goingnaturaltransitionington...ive-hairstyles/la-jay-express-weave-half-wig/

Enjoy your wig shopping and your family time.

Thank you! Oh my immediate family knows. Some of the family friends don't know and I'm not in the mood to deal with their surprise. I've been natural for a good while or so but my hair's never been this short. I'm tired of my entire day being dictated by how my hair looks. Ever since the media has caught on to the natural hair revolution, people seem obsessed with my hair. I cut my hair once and people made a big deal out of it for about a month and a half non stop and I don't feel like reliving that, especially on Thanksgiving.

That was review was nice! Thanks!!

Thank you! I had heard of La Jay and Shelly before but not La Efrah and La Aleka.

Sometimes you just don't feel like being bothered with people's comments especially when you know it is going to be excessive. When I do wear my hair out, (PS most of the time), I usually don't wear it to work because in the past people have gone crazy. All of it was compliments and I appreciate it but I don't always feel like answering questions about my hair all day and dealing with people constantly asking or just putting their hands in my hair. So I completely understand where you are coming from.

What about what i'm wearing in my Avi?

CurlsOnFire23 I can't see your avi???

Couldn't have said it better.

I will say that some of my favorite wigs have been by "new born free" and "its a wig" i rarely keep the name tags to them but those are my go to lines....have fun with your family.
