After a three inch trim (which basically took me back to where i started) I kind of feel like giving up. It's coming up to my one year since i started my hair journey and i have nothing to show. I think I need to start over:nono:

Awww! Don't give up!...Your hair looks much thicker and healthier in your signature picture since you started in July 08'.

Never give up! Just stick with what works for you...You will see progress if you stay consistant

I'm a rookie in the game but I can tell that you have made progress with your hair. Based on the pics in your siggy, your hair looks so much healthier and shiny. The ends look thicker too.

Even if you have had a minor, and somewhat temporary, setback in terms of your length goals, you should be celebrating your sucesses on the health front.

If you give up, what else is there instore for you? A chance for you to continue your hard work or a life time of lace fronts? LOL. I know which one I would pick!

:pepper:don't give up! don't give up!

:superbanana: you can do it! you can do it!

Set backs are gonna happen even to the best. So don't give up! Take what you learned and make the 2nd go round better.
:blowkiss: :bighug:

Don't give up! I joined this forum in 2006 and once again, I'm starting all over. It's all trial and error. I still haven't really learned my hair.

Be patient with yourself. You'll get there.

Never give up! I was 1.5 years into my healthy hair journey before I started making progress. I spent a year just figuring out what products to use on my hair! My first year of pressing my hair, I must have burned out half a head of hair. It takes time, prayer and a sense of humor! You'll figure it out.:yep:

We have the same exact hair. I've trying to grow mine for 9 years. I had setbacks up until January of this year and now finally, I am starting to make progress. You have to find what works for you. For me:

My thin hair can't take any harsh chemicals
My thin hair can't be washed every week - I wash every month
My thin hair can't be combed and brushed a lot, fingers do the job
My thin hair can't tolerate any cones
My thin hair loves lanolin ( a big no no on this board)
My thin hair can only tolerate heat once a month.
When I drink water and take my vitamins (including flax and fish oils), my natural hair is more manageable and shiny.

My thin hair has gotten at leat 2X thicker and is growing because of the above. Stick it out and it will pay dividends. Good luck

Don't give up and in the meantime, concentrate on hair health.
I trimmed my hair last week and I really thought that in the 18 months since I started this journey I would be full MBL by now, but youo know what I am not. I trimmed it and it looks 1000x better and thicker and healthier without those stringy ends. I do take comfort in the fact that it is longer than it has ever been and healthier and softer than it has ever been.
I learned that my hair loves oils, water, braidouts and hates relaxer stretching, I will no longer go past ten weeks, my hair is not the better for it. Either I am going natural or I must relax at shorter intervals than 16 weeks. She don't like that stretching business:perplexed

Basically I learned to listen and to respond to whatever it needs.:yep:.

Don't give up! You got all of your big sisters here to help you get this figured out. Okay I am sure you have heard of the saying, "If it ain't broke don't fix it- well if its broken then you need to fix it. Why in the world did you need a 3 inch trim? There is something about your regimen that your hair does not like.

If you don't mind list out your regimen so we can try to help you. From the looks of it your hair looked great in your siggie. This is the thing- every one always want to equate progress with length, just remember progress can mean lots of things like, less breakage, less shedding, thicker, shinier or manageable hair. I said all of that to say.....don't you even think about giving up. You can do it!
