So I decided to do something different with my hair. I have had the same regimen for a year and half and I wanted to switch it up a bit! I did some research and decided to make a hair smoothie! seen here in this video

The recipe called for 1 avocado (which I have never used in my hair before), 1 banana, 1 egg, honey and a can of coconut milk.

Then Blend it together

Add half coconut milk....

Blend then add other half and honey

Blend again. Before making mix I separated my hair into manageable sections.

I applied it section by section and then covered my hair with my plastic cap (bag:look:) for an hour.

I did a poor job blending and so after I rinsed this out there was still food in my hair.

But I after I shampoo'd twice and detangled with my denman brush and all was good to go! I followed up with my normal DC mix and air dried in braids.

I have never done a protein treatment on my natural hair and I am cautious because my relaxed hair was protein sensitive. This can be consider as a light-medium protein treatment that nourishes and strengthens hair as well as imparting shine, softness and manageability (via youtube description). This is something I could see my self doing this once every other month. I hope you all enjoyed!

BTW. Half of the mixture was left at the end. When I first put in in my hair it smelled like bananas but after an hr it smelled like guacamole.

I enjoyed seeing the pics of the fruit. Minus the egg, I would probably end up eating it. :) I'm glad it worked out for your hair.

I remember the first time I made that caramel treatment, I had banana seeds in my hair for days. Next time try banana baby food.

I am gonna try this. I am trying to use as many natural items in my hair as I can. Plus this looks yummy :lick:

Must day your curls look great post treatment. This seems like too much work for my lazy bones, so I will be sticking with yogurt for my light protein. But nice work and results.

Ahh these old but treasured recipes.

I've done both, but one only using an avocado, the other banana.

The avocado was nice...till I found out I was ALLERGIC and it burned my scalp and skin worse than a relaxer.

The banana was great but too runny! lol

 Omg! That sounds awful! This wasnt runny or thick. I just found it a litte wasteful since half was left over.
