Hello, everyone, I'm new here. I don't really have album of photos just yet. I have been trying to grow out my hair. I am so glad to have found this site b/c nobody seems to understand my mission! I have been wearing wigs for over a year now and I LOVE it! My hubby doesn't understand why but I used to have much longer hair. It is currently relaxed but I am considering growing it out and bringing back my natural texture and working with it instead of fighting it. I have been browsing before I posted and I noticed some of you have seen results with growth aids. I have never heard of these before that you all were referring to such as MN? and Indian oil or something??? someone told me to use hair mayonnaise so I have bought that along with a scalp scrub from organic root stimulator. I took nature's blend vitamins for hair but haven't noticed anything. I used Dr Miracles and while I like the relaxer and the oil my hair length has not dramatically changed. :wallbash: I'm at wit's end and lately achieving healthy long, long hair has been an obsession with me!

I think low manipulation, treating your ends, moisturizering daily, DC and eating a diet high in veggies and fruit is much better than any growth aid. By the way, welcome to our family:grin:

welcome! and I agree with Lauren. I think its important to first learn how to retain the growth that you are getting by mastering simple practices like DCing, moisturizing daily, babying your ends, setting up a regimen, etc... Then you can move to the stage of using growth aids that work for you.

If you decide to use MN, it seems relatively easy to incorporate, but if you are going to use the Indian Ayurvedic methods be sure to do thorough research beforehand.

Happy Hair Growing!

Thanks ladies for the warm welcome! I have been trying to be very proactive in terms of my hair health. I tend to get lazy and discouraged but I am going to be more driven this time. I have improved my diet, I still work out and I am doing more DC treatments. I have found olive oil works good on my ends and Wrapping it really helps- I usually only have to flat iron once or twice a week!

Looking at my daughter's hair (she is half Black, half Hispanic) makes me realize how beautiful natural hair is. ANd here I am telling her to love her curls and her hair the way it is. And I go and relax mine. Not really setting a good example, there am I?

Anyway, what exactly is MN or that other product you guys were talking about? CAn you give me the full name or a website where I can find more info? Thanks!

Thanks for all the info! Mook, I noticed that you haven't had a relaxer since last year?? How's that going for you? How do you wear your hair w/o it? Did you cut your hair or experience a lot of breakage? I've only went about 4-6 mos without a relaxer and that was when I was preggos.

Lol Welcome to the Hair cult lmao aka LHCF!! My advice is don't be an impulsive hair stuff buyer "hair junkie" like I was!! Happy Growing!! :spinning::drunk:

Welcome!!!!!!!! I think you will find a wealth of knowledge and info here. Just about anything you ever tried or wanted to try, someone here has done it.

I do use growth aids currently. Mainly because I'm trying to get to shoulder length by April (almost there). However, I do think the most efficient long-term way to maintain length is with a healthy lifestyle. The same methods people tell you to lose weight, applies to haircare in my opinion. Slow and steady wins the race.

I am going to use growth aids for six months to a year, then wean myself off and just continue growing and caring for my hair from there. I will never stop taking vitamins though, because I can tell a difference in my overall health when i take them.

Good luck to you in your hair care journey.

Welcome! Well you've obviously come to the right place. Just give it some tims and you'll have the long healthy hair you crave. My BF doesn't understand either. I told him I want hair down my back, past MBL and he asked my why:perplexed.

I'm new here and am so in the dark. I'm not sure if we pre-poo on dry hair? How often do we co-wash? What is co-wash? What is mayonnaise good for? I'm a hair care junky but need to become more familiar w/ your hair care terms.

marna:yep:

Hi cookie1! I thought the title of this thread sounded familiar! LOL! Actually mayo is pretty good for the hair I've heard many ladies on this board use it on their hair. Their is also actual hair mayonnaise that is sold in the hair care section in stores such as Walmart Target and beauty supplies. The best to me was Organic Root Stimulator hair mayo but as I've heard they went and changed it and the ingredients aren't exactly great as they used to be:look: Anyway stick around and I sure you'll find a wealth of info that will help you reach and possibly exceed your hair goals! welcome to the family!
