I am tired of wearing my fro or twists. The dang on DC meeting has left me wanting straight, swinging hair.

I get tired of the shrinkage, I want to see some lenght.

Yeah I know your on the no heat challenge but I second the flat iron recomendation. Maybe you could even just do a rollerset if your concerned about heat. I have seen some naturals do really good rollersets.

Girl, take your self to see Santa at Jaselvis Salon in Silver Spring, MD (Dominican). She is SO nice and she loves doing natural hair.

I think it's okay to press/flat iron your hair just so you take care of it. Some of the people with the longest hair I've ever seen like UNLV girl and some people I know personally, press their hair every 2 weeks or 1 time per month. I've started getting my hair pressed again and I love it. I can keep it moisturized sooo well when it's pressed. But I only let my hairdresser do it. I don't put any heat in it during the time in between and I let her put a deep conditioning mask on it each time I go. You can see the pressed pics in my album. I'm trying to get to where UNLVgirl is!! :)

Country gal,

Your hair is beautiful and looks healthy! ;) If you want a change to straight), just press it, wig it, or weave it- until you are feelin your natural curls again.

Good luck, CurliDiva :D

I felt the same way last night so I decided to press my hair for a change. Later on, I will get some two-strand twist extensions so that I will have a break from doing my hair.

How much do they charge?

Hey its your hair your only limit is you. Step outside of the box and do something creative and fun. I don't do heat, but I do weaves, wigs and braids somtimes. Again use your imagination and go for what you know.

COuntry, your natural is beeeuuuutiful!!!!

I wouldn't straighten too often, but if you do be careful.

I know Lisa also does a nice job on natural hair (Lisa's Salon on Georgia Ave.) She used a paddle brush to blow out this little girls natural hair and it came out nice.
