I left the top off of my moisturizer....can I add water to it?

So I was in a rush the other day and left the caps off of my Cantu and ORS Olive Oil moisturizer. Now it's a little thicker and gummier than I would like. Can I just add a little water to get it a little runnier or will this mess up the formula?
