I know why it\'s breaking now

I found out the reson my hair has been breaking so much, despite the conditioner washes every 2 days, the gentle shampoos, the deep conditioning and every other thing that I do to my hair.

It's my comb!!!

I'm such an idiot, I haven't even noticed it until today. It's a wierd comb, some of the teeth are widely spaced and some aren't. 3 of the teeth are about 1/4 of an inch apart and the other 2 are like 1/16 of an inch apart. 80% of the hair that I was losing was coming from those little teeth!!! I looked at the comb and saw that the hair was caught primarily in those little teeth, I only lost like 2 or three hairs with the bigger teeth!!

I'm so mad that I didn't pay attention (and lost alot of hair-30+ hairs a day), but I'm also relieved because all I have to do is get another comb. But now I'm scared that my hair is thinned out, especially in the back where the new growth is really curly

Anyways, that was just me venting...

I wanna know how far should the teeth of my comb be? How far apart are the ones you use?

Purtygurly ~ congratulations on finding out your source of breakage. Don't beat yourself up though, we've all made mistakes on our individual hair care journeys.

Here's a picture of the comb I use to detangle my hair:

I bought it from the same website as this photo: hairsense.com. I have several combs from this vendor and I've been pleased with the quality of service as well as the products.

I have that same comb and I love it. Makes detangling a whole lot easier especially when trying to extend your touch ups!

It is a shampoo comb made by Annie.I had never heard of Annie before.I figure a shampoo comb is the same as a shower comb

Re: I know why it\'s breaking now

Before I started my hair journey in August. I used this purple comb, my absolute FAVORITE comb. I then bought a shower comb after seeing people here rave about them. I used the shower comb a couple of times and went back to my favorite comb and I was amazed at how harsh this comb seemed to my hair and scalp. I never noticed until I used something else. What a difference a day makes.

I want to buy that big detangling bone comb! It's been on my to-buy list for a while now!

Yes, combs can definitely make the difference!

Re: I know why it\'s breaking now

I have the SAME problem. Adrienne recommended a "bone comb" that looks very similar to the one posted. Its seamless and has wide tooth spaces. So I ordered it. It will be a big help. You should try one. A lot of the ladies here use them.

nyambura, that comb is on my "to buy list" I have been eyeing that baby for some time now. The shampoo girl at a salon that i recently visited using it to comb through the conditioner in my hair, and i must say it is a wonderful comb.
