You should wait till you have a good 1-2 inches of new growth because its hard to really tell with anything less...

The hair type thing confuses me so much at times. I guess one never really knows their true hair type unless they've been natural long enough to remember their hair texture or they go natural. For me I say that I'm 3c/4a, but I could very well be another hair type combo. I won't really know unless I go natural .

But to be honest...it's too early to tell. Take into consideration the short length of NG plus scab hair...and the relaxed ends effect it. If you took one portion of relaxed hair and snipped it to the natural bit, it may coil up upon itself giving a new look to what you expected. Many transitioners got a shock when they cut it off since their natural hair was a bit distorted by the relaxed hair.

OP, if you relax your hair its very hard to tell you your hair type. The relaxed ends pull and weigh it down.
