okay, I'm supposed to get a touch up tomorrow because school starts thursday and i'm 17 weeks post relaxer. the lady who's going to do my hair braids too, and i'm thinking that since this is the beginning of school i'm not going to want to deal with my hair. so i'm going to ask her (she's closed now) to trim (i need maybe 1/4" off) and braid (cornrow) my hair instead of relaxing it.. and just go back when i'm 20 weeks post for a relaxer.

do you ladies think this is a wise choice? or should i just go ahead and get a relaxer? my hair isn't breaking off or anything so.. ?

if ur hair is in good shape, then i say get the braids

and wait on the relaxer. I do suggest getting ur hair trimmed when it's fully dried (straight).

that's the thing.. i'm terrified that she's going to blowdry my hair.. just when i've gone 3 months without heat

is it better to trim dry than wet? thanks for your input.

U don't want to get a wash 'n set and maybe she can just blowdry the roots? I don't like getting my hair trimmed when it's wet (it's longer due to the elasticity), so after they cut it, and my hair shrinks when it's dry, it looks like they cut off more than they should

Yeah, what CH said. I don't trust any trim on wet hair, unless it's bone straight. Rollerset maybe your best option. Otherwise, I would braid and get a trim when you touch-up

. Your ends will be protected and haven't been heat exposed, so they shouldn't be bad or get any worse.

so you think it would be okay for her to blow dry my hair.. since she's going to be trimming my ends anyway? (i dont want to take too long because i was originally getting a relaxer)

If you're okay, w/her using heat

. I would NOT recommend a trim on wet hair, esp since you're so far post-relaxer

I agree with not having the trim done on wet hair. It's a practically surefire way to end up with your hair being shorter than you like.

Are you gettind braids?
If so IMO, I think you should wait for a trim until your relaxer.

why do you think i should wait for a trim? in case the braids mess up my ends a little so i dont end off cutting more than i wanted to?

okay, i just got back from getting my hair done, i got fishbone braids. she washed/conditioned my hair and my hair dried mostly under the hooded dryer, but she DID whip out the blowdryer but she didnt use a comb attatchment so i'm okay. she said i should wait until i get a relaxer to trim my ends.. and all is well. i'm just mad she charged me $50 for it!

lol, it was her first time doing my hair, and i really like her! she agreed with a LOT of the stuff i told her about the LHCF. she's also the first stylist ive been to that actually RECOMMENDS washing/conditioning 2 or 3 times a week. i decided to make her my regular stylist, i go back on the 28th for a relaxer.
