I Just Googled my LHCF Name-a little scary

I was reading a post and one person suggested to google your screen name. Of course I did it, and the doggone thing actually had two of my posts along with my picture. This is so not good. Thankfully I come correct when I am posting stuff but I wanted to emphasize the warning.

I googled saw my screenname pop up lucky for me nothing crazy came up along with some other lhcf members. What is the best way to protect yourself when dealing with forums?

That's how I found LHCF by googling long hair and one of the members pic showed up. There is a setting in Fotki that allows you to block your info from search engines.

I googled my name a while back and that's when I started cleaning things up. This is one of the reasons I'm changing my name once my membership is up (and also why I don't post very often in the Hair forum unless I absolutely need to). Posts from the other parts of the forum aren't searchable.

Ironically when I googled my name the threads that came up were "How addicted to LHCF are U" and "I love natural hair and all BUT"
Mods is there any way to fix this I do not want people all up in my LHCF business.

I just did a search of my name and fotki info shows up. I have it specifically set up in fotki to keep private from search engines.

I googled my screenname a few months and since my screename is pretty generic. My profile did not come up but that is pretty scary. That's why I like to put my pw in my profile because if someone was to stumble upon my fotki they would not be able to access it.

Okay, 3 result pages came up when I googled my name Most of them were from other people's fotki's where I left comments. There were 2 from another hair board that I lurked and it was their stats page that listed me as a "lurker".

My fotki album requires a pw so I'm not worried about outsiders accessing it.

Okay I am divided on this ability being shut down. I joined in November after running across something by HoneyLemonDrop and she became my hair hero. The girl got some hair ya’ll. After looking threw her pages I seen something about LHCF and wound up here. I know this site has made a difference in my life so I don’t want people to loose the ability to search the pages.

I got 4,370 results from my name. Most of it is from posts on various boards. If somebody googled me, the most they probably know is that I spent a lot of time on hairboards.

Only the folks on LHCF know of my user name. I do not attach my real name to it. Just don't let anyone beyond the board know your username.
