I JUST REALIZED, I REALLY CANT REMEMBER THE LAST TIME I USED SHAMPOO OR EVEN BOUGHT IT. BOTH ME AND MY DAUGHTER DONT HAVE MUCH USE FOR IT, WITH CW'S AND OR'S (JUST MADE THAT ONE UP HAHA) AND REG WATER RINSING, I HAVE FOUND THERE IS NO NEED FOR IT WHATSOEVER FOR OUR HAIR

AND OUR HAIR IS DOING THE BEST EVER

I THINK THE ONLY REASON I WOULD USE IT AGAIN IS IF I HAPPENED TO USE SOME PRODUCT THAT CAUSED SUCH BUILD UP THAT IT REQUIRED IT, BUT I DONT SO IT PROBABLY WONT EVEN HAPPEN

Not to scare anyone but when I was in boarding school, I had a friend who NEVER washed her hair with shampoo or water more than twice a YEAR! Yep! Her hair was long too. What did she do? She'd apply Dax (the green one) to it, and then take a pick comb and feed the teeth through cotton wool so that the cotton was at the base of the teeth. Then she'd comb through her hair and the dirt would collect on the cotton. (She also did this with tissue paper.) She would comb through over and over till all the dirt in her hair covered the cotton. Then she'd repeat with fresh cotton till no more dirt came out. As she combed she made sure the cotton swept through her hair starting from the scalp. She said that's how her mom had cared for her hair since she was a baby. She'd wait till the holidays when her mom would shampoo the hair for her. And no, she never got any living creatures in her head. (I knew another girl also in school who didn't do anything at all but keep her hair braided and rumor had it that she did home a few bugs in there which explained why no one wanted to play in her hair  )

I on the other hand couldn't go without washing my hair it coz I love the feel of water on my scalp, plus I get a headache if I go more than 3 days without washing my hair. Go figure.

You sound like me. I use shampoo every 4 weeks.... but then again I only wash every 4 weeks :ohwell:.

EWW THATS JUST SO NASTY! NO WASHING WITH NOTHING? AND DAX? OMG! THATS STUFF , WELL IN MY GREASE DAYS I USED TO LIKE IT ACTUALLY , BUT NOW, I CANT SEE IT!

Do you do other things inbetween?

I mean I aint trippin if not, I think I used to stretch to three or four with no problems , I think it depends on the hair and scalp of the person. My hair did fine......but thats when I was pouring watery leave in over my head daily

now I have to rinse or something once a week, cause I use conditioner as leave in now and I have to start with wet hair

I've always liked the idea of being completely shampoo free. I cowash often, but I find that I get the "craving" to shampoo, maybe every ten days or so. I just feel that my scalp needs to be scrubbed and I can't resist the urge to grab that bottle of shampoo. Of course, my hair doesn't look or feel as good for several days after. But I guess, I'll never learn. :perplexed The only shampoo that doesn't bother my hair is Aveda Sap Moss, which I don't have in my possession very often.

Hi, Iris. I'm a member of your group. I go by the screenname-thotgirl1970 there. I love your hair and your daughter's hair too. Good to see you here.

I tried it for a minute but I like shampooing my hair, there is a difference I thought there wasn't but there is seems like my hair so much smoother and silkier when I wash it as just CW. Sometimes I just wash my hair just because but I can really feel the difference and see the difference in my hair when I do so. I don't wash my hair that often sometimes once a week or twice a week if I put gel in. IC gel then yes I use shampoo to get it out. I don't like anything to sit in my hair for more then 12 hours.

Irresistible, what conditioner do you use for your cw's (do you cw daily?)and what oil do you use for your or's?

I do put moisturizer and water on my hair every single morning. Maybe that's why I can go weeks without shampooing.

Ladies, I too have been a part of the no hair washing brigade. Back in the prehistoric days, I used to sport the dreaded Jheri curl. I didn't keep it really drenched in activator; but, I did only wash my hair when I got my hair redone (once every 4 months!). My hair was long, thick and healthy.

Since getting my hair relaxed again, I've been washing it once a week faithfully...sometimes more. When I joined this board I started doing daily co-washes. It did my hair some justice; but, a girlfried of mine with long, luxurious hair has changed my mind again. NO MORE HAIR WASHING!!!

Since I no longer use heavy greases on my hair, I should be able to get away with washing this grass once a month...if not more. Wish me luck!!!

I think the no shampoo regimen works depending on what type of products you use. For me, throughout the week, with frequent cw's and product to moisturize and control against humidity, it is necessary for me to clean my scalp of residue. I try not to go longer than two weeks. But when I do shampoo, I do it gently with my hair in four plaits so that I can focus the application predominantly to the scalp.

Sorry I just got back to this.....

I use all kinds of conditioners, even the cheap V05's, pantene, sauve, nuetrogena just whatever I pick up, I leave in Motions silk protien alot and i guess sometimes that ends up being my cw cause i just rinse my hair with it in it after usiing it as a leave in. the oil rinses I have used all kinds, Macadamia nut oil, Hazlenut oil, Olive Oil and Coconut oil

I Think I am going to stick mostly with coconut oil now though
