Your hair grows very fast. When I compare the hair in April 2002 to now, just one year and a half, I am shocked.

You must share how your regime. What vitamins do you take? How often do you wash? What products do you use in your hair?

Great growth and thick haair

Thanks everybody. Since I live with my hair everyday, I can't see all that much progress. But after updating my album and looking at the pictures, I see that I have done a good job in retaining my length by protecting the ends.

I'll try to answer everyones questions:

Do I find it easier to deal with texturized hair?

No, not really. In fact, I miss the softness that my natural hair had, that the texturizer seems to have zapped. I sacrificed a lot of my softness for less frizz and bulkiness. Overall, I have to be more careful because the texturizer did break down my hair, and I know that not being careful can lead to breakage.

What haircolor do I use?

I really don't remember because I colored my hair 4 months ago. I think it was a Clairol brand because it is semi permanent. I bought it at Walmart. It was deep black. I'm not going to color anymore because I'm texturized, and if I do, I will stick to rinses, because I noticed that when I was natural the coloring of my hair made it hard, so I had to work a lot at keeping my hair moist. I don't want to go through that while I'm texturized.

What vitamins do you take?

Hee hee. I am so broke now, I have run out of most of my big ticket vitamins (4-hair, Megabiotin, Ultra Nourishair) so I have been taking: 1 Centrum multi-vitamin, 4000mg of Flax Seed Oil, 4000mg of Evening Primrose Oil, 1000mg of Vitamin C, 2000mg of Silica, and 3000mg of MSM. I take so much of the Flax Oil and EPO because I have eczema (I don't know if I spelled that right) and it keeps my skin moist so I won't suffer outbreaks. When I can buy them I will get the SuperBiotin, and Ultra Nourishair.

What is your routine?

I wear my hair up six days a week. I wear my hair down after I wash my hair for that day. As for my routine, I wash with Sauve Clarifying shampoo. I then condition with Pantene Relaxed and Natural conditioner for 3 minutes. After I rinse I then use L.U.S.T and leave it in for 3 minutes. I then wash that out, and blowdry my hair in four sections with a blowdryer with a comb attachment. I use wildgrowth on my ends before I blowdry. I then flatiron.

The next day I put my hair into a ponytail, wet the ends with water, apply wildgrowth to the ends, and then take a good amount of vaseline and apply it to the same area. I then put my hair into a protective style until I wash. I do this for three weeks. On the fourth, I do the exact same thing but before I blowdry, I do a protein treatment with Aphogee Reconstructor, and deep condition with Motions Oil Plus deep
conditioning treatment.

The Vaseline challenge has really kept my ends in check and I thank Lee and all the V-girls who turned me on to this.

I don't have a texturizer, but I did use a semi/demi color this past summer and it made my hair drier than normal. I deep conditioned, and deep conditioned and nothing worked until I used the Aphogee treatment. My hair has been thanking me ever since.

Okay, I'll bite and splurge on the SuperBiotin and the Ultra Nourishair. I think I remember that they both can be purchased from GNC. If I can only discipline myself to take them when needed. I would love to have results like yours.

You know, when I was in college I used vaseline on my relaxed ends and my hair was thick and long. Hmm, I think I may join you ladies on this challenge. Great tip! Thanks for sharing!

So you flat iron your hair once a week?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep. Only when I wash. And that can vary from 1 week, to disgusting when I get in a truly lazy mood.

If I wash it more, I will wet bun it.

Once a week is it. I maintain the look by tying it up, and since I bun my hair, I don't have to use extra heat.

I am so jealous of your shape Asha! I need to get my chunky butt on an elliptical trainer!

Your hair is gorgeous

. So thick and healthy. And my, you've made a huge progress in growth from last year. Keep it up girl.

How many mg of biotin does the superbiotin hav? I just started taking the Freeda 10mg.

The Megabiotin has 7.5mg of biotin. I found one with 10mg, but I found it by typing "10mg biotin" in the search funtion on Yahoo.
