I'm not a cutter, I'm a snipper! Lately I've been so miffed at my hair because it refuses to grow in an even straight line (yeah, I know...) I HAD the beginnings of hair touching bra strap but have gaps where the uneveness is very apparent from past damage and over the last 2 weeks, it seems every time I wash my hair, my hands find the sissors (always conveniently on the sink counter for some reason) and after I braid my pony tail or smooth out my 2 air drying pigtails it's "snip...snip"..Miniscule bits but, I'm eating away at my own progress! I'm at week 7 or so (lost count) of my last touch up so I should know better to trust how even my hair is at the moment but I look at all the beautiful pics of ya'll with wonderously dead even hair and I just get frustrated and sneak into the bathroom to "cut" myself...I'm trying to wait until ALL my hair is at bra strap and then even up, meaning I'd be cutting the uneven lengths which will be past but it's so dang hard!

and I worry that if I do a major trim now I might not recoup. I know that as long as I'm breathing then hair grows but we all know that feeling. I don't want to back track but all this scissor nit picking is probably doing just that...Ya'll know how they used to dip thumbs in something sour to prevent thumb sucking? well, I need something sour! Any ideas?...Any one have to suffer the same frustration and overcame it with EVEN bra strap hair to tell the tale? I need your words of wisdom and encouragement cause I just did it again...

Oh, yeah...Adrienne...don't read this! (She'll kill me!)

I love your hair Godzooki! As you know, the last time you had a trim (I think it was the last time!) it didn't even look like you cut your hair at all! It looked even but just as long.

You're right, Adrienne will probably

you if she reads your post!
(BTW, someone is wondering what happened to you on the other discussion board}

Well, I viewed your album (loved the Dec braid-out) and let me tell you I have the same problem as you. I must have lost 2 or more inches in growth from un needed trims last year. Your hair looks healthy, it's just the ends aren't even the way you want. My advice, that I'm learning to live by, is leave it alone until you reach your goal, then cut off the ends. PUT THE SCISSORS DOWN! A couple months back I pressed out my hair and was so discourged by my healthy, uneven ends, they got chopped off. Now I'm sitting under the dryer, waiting to press my hair again. I'm scared!! If they don't look even I know I'll be tempted to cut them off, but I know they're healthy so I'ma do my best to leave them alone. I also wear my hair in buns because I don't like my ends. I only wear it braided out, or semi waved. I'm hoping that the last chop was all I needed and I can wear it pressed out now. Wish me luck.

It's just they way your hair grows out. All those mini snips add up.

Hide the scissors from yourself!

I know exactly how you feel about the even ends thing. I went through the same thing about 2 weeks ago. The bad thing is, once youatrt cutting, it's really hard to stop. I finally put my scissors way (for now) and I'm just enjoying having thick, healthy ends...at least for the time being. just try not to overdo it. You know our hair grows unevenly. I'd say at least wait until your next realxer and then evaluate the eveness. if it's a little trimming then, go for it.

Thanks guys. I really needed the pep talk to keep from getting worse. I get so frustrated. I mean really! I literally found a couple of hairs that touch bra strap and I'm like now why can't the others just take note! Well, they're gone now...snipped away...*sigh* I really need to find someone to cornrow my hair so I can't touch it at this point... If I could get the dang parting down I could do it myself!

You must be infectious godzooki - last night I cut off almost two inches from my ends - and I don't even have long hair!

Don't feel bad Godzooki, at least you know that you don't have splits.

I have been trimming because of see thru ends. They look so bad. Right now I am rocking a braid out to hide them. I cut off at least and inch on Friday and my hair has been breaking lately also.
