I gotta ask the obvious....How do I get my natural hair in a fro?

I've done it before months ago. But #1, I forgot what I did....and #2, I remember it hurting like hell . Do I blow-dry after washing or do I just keep combing thru it as it air dries?

How do I approach this

........minus the pain :look:

Isn't that a fro in your siggy?

When I was natural I would wash my hair and condition and let it airdry. This helped my 4B kinks to take shape. When it was about 75% dry I would use a pick and my hand to shape an afro. Even though my hair is 4B it didn't make as good as a fro as I wanted so I never wore it out of the house because I wanted a Jackson 5 fro and I only got a floppy Sideshow Bob fro:ohwell:

Maybe some other experts will chime in. I think the texture of your hair determines what kind of fro you will have. Since my hair is fine this may have led to my results.

Yes it is tecnically a fro from doing a wash and go.....hmmm..I'm probably not using the right terminology. How do I get a straight fro?

Basically, what do I do if I don't want it to be curly for a week? I hope that makes sense :look:

Did you use any moisturizer, or oil on your hair as you did this?

when i want a less curly fro, i put my hair in 12 braids or so after detangling and let my hair dry and set in the crinkly braid pattern. then when i take the braids down, i can gently pull a brush to get my hair to poof into a fro. you can check out my Fotki to see how it turned out on my hair when it was around 6 inches long and how it looks now that my hair is much longer.

I do the same as ladylibra or I seperate the curls in my shake and go until they a frizy and all fro like. I love it.

I say blowdry, then cornrow your hair. Take it out a few days later and comb it out....and VOILA, a huge fro!!!;) BUT, if you baggy your cornrows (like I have) it will shrink the fro dramatically (at least mine did). So, for maximum fro-idge, don't apply any moisture to the braids. Oil is fine though. --That's what works for me!-hth

1. wash & condition your hair
2. detangle REALLY GOOD
3. apply leave-in & put your hair into 10-12 plaits or twists
4. airdry COMPLETELY
5. undo each plait or twist one at a time
6. apply a little bit of moisturizer to the section
7. gently pick it out with an afro pic while holding the section at the root
8. once your done with each section, pick/fluff/pat into shape
I just recently did an afro, check out my signature ;)

I brush all the curls out of my hair (well as many as I can get out) and then it looks like a fro.

I love your siggy pic, that's what inspired me :)
