At first I was like WTF...! I checked and double checked that it wasn't a shed hair knotted with the strand. How did this one little sucker make it among all the rest?

Now I'm around APL (and I've been here longer than I should've), but this gives me hope. It confirms that its not growth that's the problem, but breakage/retention.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Girl, look again for the tiny little knot that's holding that string onto another.

Quite a few folks posted threads like this, just to find the knot.

I get them a lot, but I always look for the knot, and I always find one.

i think its quite possible that the one strand just grows faster than the rest. Ive found several strands that are much longer than the rest.

I think it wud be quite odd for that one hair to survive breakage, well unless its like a miracle hair LOL

just to add also that a co-worker had this one eyelash that was like 2 inches long LOLOLOL, he said he had it for years. it fell out just recently

Wow! I was just going to post that her hair might be on the grow...but this seems plausible, too! Sorry, OP, I'm just not sure.

that has happened to me. I got to tugging on it so much that it came out and no knot. i am very "breakage prone" if not in a PS.

That's what I was thinking, but I checked over and over very carefully. I've had them before with knots attached, but this was a surprise. Definitely no knot!

I rarely wear my hair straight (I've only done so once in 5 years of being natural), so I can kinda see how I'd miss it. I only measure my length based on wear my plaits/cornrows fall, or just pull a bunch of strands down when its out.

And it may be a really fast growing hair, but I'd rather cling to the hope that all of my hair would be like that if I'd had a perfect regimen all this time before joining LHCF not too long ago. Theoretically it should be BSL by now anyway, considering the growth rate I had in the first 1-2 years.

SimJam, LOL at that dude's eyelash! :lachen:

Well whatever the case OP, maybe this one strand will encourage you to get your regimen/retention on lock so the rest of your hair can catch up!

I've only had this happen when shed hairs were knotted together with one of my other hairs. I always sigh wistfully and think, 'If only...':lachen:

The same thing just happened to me last night, OP! :happydance:

I'm full APL now but my brother found a few hairs that reached BSL. They weren't knotted or clumped up or anything! CLAIM IT, GIRL! Claim it! I think I'll wait until the rest of my hair catches up but it's very exciting!

More encouragement to keep on PSing.
