I just heard this from a friend. She keeps telling me every so often after like a couple of weeks she is against trimming. I told her regardless of how well we take care of our hair we are going to see a few splits here and there and not to follow a schedule, only trim when needed. Now she says trimming breaks off her hair and she thinks she doesn't have to trim ever! What?!!! But every couple of weeks she telling me that she has a bald spot or hair shedding like crazy and slaps a perm in and it stops and her ends don't look all that bad. And oh yeah her hair is catching up to mind which makes me wonder is she trying to make this a competition when in fact she doesn't know what my length is. Because of my setback I trim quite often, health over length and I don't care if I have to trim it up to my chin because I'm getting rid of those thin ends. I don't see how anyone can think they don't have to trim ever! Have you heard someone say this as well? What was your response. She seems to ignorant and wonder why weeks later she is calling me with another problem. I giver her so much advice and she tries it once and thinks her hair is suppose to be healthy after doing it once.I just don't even enjoy talking about hair with her anymore. I'm done. Her hair can be eyebrow length for all i care. Do you have any hard headed friends or family they ask for advice but do what they want and call you again when their hair is in a bad state?

Absolutely. I have a friend who first blow dries her hair, then straightens it, the CURLS IT. I want to scream at her! Ain't no need for all that! Especially because she is a WW with what she calls "weird wavy hair". But basically she has coarse strands and a lot of them and her hair has a wave in it. Smdh she is perpetually in a bob always asking for help. I keep telling her to stop the heat but she turns around and keeps up that ridiculous heat regimen. Did I mention she washes her hair everyday/every other day with shampoo and conditioner because it gets "oily". I pledged to stop trying to help her and let her be bald. She wants to dye her hair blonde too smh.

They think the slightest bit of texture in their hair is coarse hair lol

I'd say stop giving her advice & tell her where to find answers for herself.
That way she can start her own Gide journey with advice that came from someone other than a friend.
People tend to trust the Internet more than they would a trusted friend giving them advice.

I tell her, even referred her to the forum, she is too cheap to sign up, I told her 6.50 and she said ph he!! No. I'm like for a year? That's cheap as hell. Well she can stick to YouTube or her extinct which doesn't work if she keeps having problems. She says her hair is catching up when she just sent a pic to me like two weeks ago and it was a little above her chin, flat and look like it was pasted to her scalp lol Monaleeza but I get what your saying, I'm done. I will continue to let my hair prosper and she can keep making the same mistakes

Lilmama1011 Trimming could be causing more damage if she's using "house scissors" or dull scissors. I had to learn the same lesson about giving advice on hair. Now I don't give advice, I feel like ppl who really want to know will search the info just like we did. When ppl say "ooo your hair is long, I want to grow my hair out" I say thanks, its definitely possible. I find most ppl are not willing to put forth the time & dedication it takes.

Yes. I think everyone on this forum has a friend or acquaintance like that.
The thorn in my side sometimes is my mom. She's my special project because I was her inspiration to go natural. I do her hair often and never mind giving advice/reviews/help. But sometimes, she will tell me some straight up insanity she read somewhere and I will advise against it and she will do it anyway, then complain for a month over the setback.
I can't NOT help when I'm asked or ignore her when she wants to bemoan a foreseeable setback, because she's my mom. The proof is in the pudding though. I'm coming up on MBL and it's been over a year and she still has a TWA.
*sigh* If she was just a friend, she'd get sent to voicemail. Lol
