I don't know about these cornrows

I got these done 2 weeks ago for $60

Normally this lady does a really good job and I am always 100% happy, but I wasn't feeling these all that much, to the point that I didn't even want to take that many pics. Here is how they looked when they were fresh:

Surprisingly, I got quite a number of compliments, so I felt better about them.

Here they are today, 2 weeks later. I was hoping that I can keep them for 3 wks to get my money's worth, but I am not down with the way they are looking. What do you guys think? Can I go another week? I am just not feeling these:ohwell:

They are fine for now, but I do not like how the back is done. If you want to leave your hair alone for a while longer they will do the job though.

-PYT, I know what you mean. The back is actually done differently than what it looks like. This is just how I have been wearing it because I couldn't figure out what else to do with the style.
Thanks for the feedback.

Wow, they look great for 2 weeks! My braids look like that after 1 day!
I think you've already gone 2 weeks, one more week shouldn't be too bad.
If you consider the financial aspect of it, that should be motivation enough.

Use some hair accessories to make it look better. You could take the bun down and transform it into a french roll instead. You can also rock tams and headwraps for the next week OR if you have wigs, replace the bun with a big french braid and tuck it under a wig.

GL w/whatever you decide!

Mandy I don't mind them. I can see if you were expecting a different style how it'd take a while to get used to it, but it can grow on me.

If you baggy with Saran wrap they'll look as good as new. The moisture from the baggy I find makes the frizz shrink up against the cornrows so they look flawless.

It's what I did to mine here. I can't believe I went to work with my hairline looking so unkempt; I usually brush the beady beads on the edges; the cornrows also look messy esp in bottom left image:

When I got home, for the night, I brushed the edges then Saran wrapped my hair after braiding the back which was previously Curlformer set into single plaits (I never sleep with loose hair). In the AM, I combed out the back into a Lisa Simpson afro, but notice how neat the front looks, thanks to the moisture from baggying:

Here's a frontal view so you can see why I call it the Lisa Simpson afro. :giggle:

I like the style just not sure if i wud wear it. $60 is a lot of money IMO to undo them so quickly. If you're not comfortable wearing it out for another week you could always throw a wig over it for another 2-3 weeks that way you'll get some growth, you hair will be protected, you can wash your scalp and you'll definately get your money's worth..... Do what makes you feel comfortable though.

Just my 1cent worth.

I'm currently in full sewin i got done Sept 30 and already my edges are fuzzy, since it's winter and i really need an extra 2" before the year ends i'm gonna through my wig over it and if it becomes too bulky i'll just take down the weave and cowah until Nov 30th.

Those braids look good for two weeks. I have to put gel on my fine hair or it coils out of the braids. If my braids looked like that, I think I could go two more weeks. Do you use gel to slick the stray hairs down?

Nonie, thank you so much. This is very helpful. I don't have many girlfriends/sistahs to ask these kinds of questions IRL, most of my friends think everything looks good:spinning:, you know what I mean?

Thank goodness for LHCF.

Girl... Take them out! When u walk around with a hairstyle u hate it takes away from ur confidence! Keeping them in an extra week isn't gonna make it worth the $$. It' s already not worth the $$ because you aren't happy with it...Especially when I see some of the HOT styles you can fo to your hair yourself.

keelioness, she said that after people complimented her on the do, it kinda started to grow on her. She's survived two weeks with it, and is only unhappy with the fuzz. If she can fix that, what's another week eh?

Seamonste, I have never used gel on the edges until today. I tried it and will also be bagging overnight like Nonie suggested. We will see what happens.

keelioness, thanks girl, don't worry about me and confidence when it comes to my hair, I will rock it out no matter what:grin: I kinda try to not let my hair be my source of confidence, anyhow, if I felt that uncomfortable I would go ahead and just take them down. I just wanted to know how bad the fuzziness looks and what I could do to preserve the hair if possible.

Thanks for the compliment regarding my styles:grin:

I can honestly see why you are not liking them now, but the baggying method mentioned sounds like a wonderful idea. It looks like you had some growth and that is why the braids look looser? In any event, perhaps doing the bm and doing a underbraid/french braid down the back will make it look a lot neater.
