My stylist who I only go to for relaxing has moved to Antigua and told me he didnt know when he was coming bck to London. So I had to find someone else to relax my hair and I dont trust stylists anymore because of all the stories Ive read on here. The only two people i trust with my hair are my mum and my stylist (who has gone to Antigua). Soo, I thought ok I'll let mumzie do it seeing as she used to relax my hair b4 and it grew to quite a healthy brastrap length.

And she applies it well, only on the roots and works quite fast so I was like gr8 mum can be retouching my hair for me now. Then, it comes to the combing the relaxer through part. She doesnt do gentle, she yanks the comb through the tangles instead of starting from the bottom and going up and I told her to stop so she was more gentle and I was like ok not too bad. Then she finishes and I got to rinse it out myself. What do I see? Shes applied the relaxer from root to ENDS!!! I was like mum you put it to the ends???!!!! She was like yh. why? I was like ur not supposed to do that or it will overprocess it!!. Then she got angry and was like well you ask me to do it next time then ungrateful.

So I neutralized the hell outta my hair, luckily she combed it to the end at the last minute and I had protected my hair with oil before the relaxer. I did a light protein after neutralizing then deep conditioned and my hair actually turned out great and it still had a lot of body and when wet there was still waves so i was pleased with the results. But i dont remember her putting it to the ends before. maybe its coz my hair was longer then? But this makes me wanna learn how to self relax now.

I did.

Me & DH do my self-relax and trim. I don't trust anyone else. You know DH aint gonna mess you up, because he wants your hair long and healthy as possible

I feel your pain. If I ever decide to have another relaxer, I'll be doing it myself. I have learned so much since I became a member so naturally, I don't want to pay someone to damage my hair again.

How cute!

Sheena, sorry your mum didn't do it the way you hoped. Good thing it turned out okay. I hope you learn how to relax soon. Some people practice with conditioner. Good luck.

Oh dear , hope it turns out okay in the long run. I have to learn to selflax when /if i go away to college. Im sure as hell not letting any and everybody in my scalp.

Do you have any female friends that have nice looking hair ? Maybe you can find out where they go (if you are not comfortable relaxing by yourself yet)

thats what my aunt did in november
i said i thought you were gonna use half she said no your ends need it too this isnt a touch up your ends need it too:ohwell:
when she finished she said my ends needed a trim badly i did it a week later or so.
this was after my first transition for 8 months

You and me both need to learn how to self relax.:perplexed Sorry that happened to you. You always can practice with conditioner til you perfect it. I was gonna say maybe next time you could have her put it in and you could work it thru yourself, but i dunno if you want a next time. Or maybe some of the ladies here could recommend a good london stylist. I feel your pain. One of the ladies here is suppose to do a self relaxing dvd (Macherieamour) this summer, so i'll wait til then. Best wishes with whatever you decide.

I'm glad it turned out okay!! That woulda scared me to death. Its a good thing you didn't leave it in long. I think everything will turn out okay from what you described in your post. Continue to deep condition everytime you wash for awhile and see how it goes. I need to learn how to self-relax too cuz there is too much information on this site for us all to not be completely liberated from stylists, unless you're going for a particular style everynow and again.

Good luck!!
