LOL I guess you can tell I'm estatic by the busted up title to this thread. It should be "I cut over an inch of my own hair and I'm estatic" LOL.

Ladies...perhaps you've read my threads debating rather or not to trim. I was just sitting on my bed thinking and I realised that I've become absolutely OBCESSED with every millimeter of my hair...even if those millimeters are dry and heavily damaged. I realised that I had to let go...like a tree my branches must be pruned for me to grow as a peson.

So I grabbed my sharpest scissors and chopped my hair into a rather sassy bob (even with my shorter layer).

Now, my ends are thick fully and healthy, and I can't wait to see what it's going to be as it grows back towards shoulder length. I think this is the best hair decision I've ever made. Let go and appreciate health and beauty in my hair and not make length superior to EVERYTHING.

I have an appointment to go in for a trim week after next. I dunno how I'm gonna explain my home cut lol but I'll tell her the truth -- spiritually I needed to do it myself. Then I'll just have her neaten it up a bit.

Perhaps this is not for everyone but it's been a wonderful exercise for me, and I feel like a wiser more focused person now that I've done this, and I can't wait to rock my cute new bob to work next week!

Congrats on your decision!! I had to trim last week myself. This is a journey for sure, and I have set no time limits for myself, because I want it to be heathy as I grow it out. I'm sure you look great!! :)

Congrats! It DOES feel good doesn't it?:)

Altho, since you just had a CUT I don't think a trim is necessary. Is it uneven or something?

I remember reading how you were struggling with whether or not to cut. I'm glad that you're happy with your decision.

Now, when you go to the stylist....watch her like a hawk. You don't want your 'neaten up' session to turn into a super cut.

Well it's not really uneven, but I basically want her to go over the ends with professional scissors to neaten the line and make sure my hairs aren't cut at an angle which can cause splits.

Congratulations on your self-trim! :) Thats whats up. I know it sure felt good, and so empowering, to be rid of the dead ends.

Be careful when you go to the salon though....... make sure to stress that you JUST want the cut evened up, with minimal hair trimmed off.

Yep...I'm feeling it. It's kinda weird for it to be this length, but my ends are super thick now and I'm not noticing any broken hairs ... I think it's gonna look super good when it grows out now.

I'm considering not going to the salon for a while. As of this morning I'm not too certain I need her to go over it.

I'm glad that you decided to cut those ends. No sense in hanging on to them if they are damaged. I bet your hair feels and looks alot better. Make sure you keep a good eye on your stylist when you get it trimmed.

Yep...my hair feels so much better and it's so much easier to style now. Yep...I'll be watching her like a hawk.
