Just want to say hi and hopefully start learning how to care for my hair. I'm probably going to cut it all off in about a week and start over. Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do to actually succeed in growing my hair this time. I'm really tired and frustrated but I'm not going to give up (yet).

4a/b hair- bad salon visit resulted in hair falling out-last April. Tried to keep it braided or sewed in weaved to let it rest. Believed it did more harm than good. Taking braids out next week and going under the knife. In a nut shell my hair is jacked and I can't have that and neither will my significant other.....I'm tired of weaves, braids, wigs, blah blah, blah...just time to face the music and start all over again. Oh btw....my hair is currently natural.

Welcome!!! You'll find so much info on how to grow hair and keep it healthy. :yep: Don't forget to use the search engine to find many topics that have been discussed. Also, check out DontSpeakDefeat's (DSD) album/info for "newbies".

Again, Welcome!!!

Welcome! I believe we've all had a hair mishap or two, and this is a good place for recovery.

Hello nychaelasymone. I'm a newbie also! :)

I don't have any suggestions for growing out your hair. However good luck!! I'm sure you'll receive a wealth of information from this board, and your hair will be back on track in no time.

Since I discovered this board by mistake last summer, I've received a TON of info, and my hair has made a 360 degree turn!!

So keep reading, and trying various products/methods. Something will work eventually!!

Hi nychaelasymone, and welcome!

This is definately the place to find good information about growing your hair out...it may take a minute, but believe me, it will grow!
Let me testify...after being on this board for only a short amount of time, my hair is now doing better than it ever has, thanks to the advice and guidance from all these wonderful ladies.

Almost forgot WELCOME! :)

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I just read the DSD thread and what a wealth of information. I'm actually pumped again to do this thing. I'm scared to go to the salon (new girl) but I gotta do what I gotta do. Again thanks.........just so I get this straight, my hair is badly damaged w/ thinning (all due to my lovely salong visit-can't believe I can really see my scalp) should I do protein treatments, deep condition weekly and reconstruct weekly or only reconstruct once a month? Also, since I have thinning, I've been massaging the thin areas with a mix of rosemary, vitamin e, & peppermint (in-between my MTG treatments).......opinions please. My hair is growing back but I know it will take some time before it regains its thickness. Lastly, I read that some of you are doing a after poo rinse w/ apple cider vinegar, what does this promote?
