I was in your predicament not too long ago. What grew my hair out was a weaving it... My hair was braided up and every week deep conditioned in the braids. Every few month when I took it out a gave it a good clip and notice gr8 growth. Protective styles is my best advice.

I had two areas of my nape that broke off - instead of in the middle it was a quarter to half dollar size chunk on either side. My nape has always been dry, but last winter was the first time I'd had relaxed hair in 1 1/2 and AZ get really dry in the winter. My nape broke off and it was like there was nothing I could do to save it.

Part of the problem was the difference in texture btw my nape NG and the relaxed hair. Second part - that hair was overprocessed b/c for the LONGEST time I would self relax and start at the nape, thinking that hair needed it. Third, the hair was naturally very dry, and rubbed on my clothes

To soften the texture I started spraying my demarcation line with a mixture of aloe vera gelly, glycerin, filtered water and SAA. SAA is a nice light protien and it strengthened the hair- esp at the demarcation line, Aloe softened it, and glycerin is a humectant so it helped keep moisture in. Next, I started processing my hair at the CROWN first b/c that's where I have the most NG. Then I would work my way back, and finally do the front where my hair is the softest and saved the edges for last. This made a HUGE difference. To keep my hair moist - I use my spray, then cover that with a light cream moisturizer - like Lacio Lacio or NTM - and then sealed with castor oil & jojoba oil mixed. I stopped combing my hair everyday, and when I do I do in TINY sections back there, and ONLY after I've sprayed it with moisturizer. I started wearing my hair up to keep my nape from rubbing. I also started using BT, and made sure to massage it in those areas especially. Now it's a little over a year later and the patchy areas have caught up to the middle. Good luck!

Yes. You definately do need protein. IMO, u probably need more protein than once a month. How often do you wash? How does ur hair feel when it is dry? Do you have a problem detangling the back of your hair? (<--- From the picture that's what it looks like. :yep: It looks like 1)ur hair needs some more strength, and 2)maybe the back gets more tangly than the sides)
Yeah, it does fill like my hair is more tangly in that area.
