Okay for those of who do not know only my bangs are relaxed because I have been wearing a sew in for some time now and I wanted to ask a question! I am going to go to the salon to have them do my realxer but I want it more as a texturizer! I wanted to know what should I ask them for. Meaning should I just go in and ask them for a relaxer too loosen the curls or tell them that I only want it to stay in for a couple if minutes or what! Please help TIA

Tell them that you don't want your hair relaxed bone straight and get them to use a mild relaxer.

kaykay, can you take a picture of someone's hair with you so that they know exactly what you mean?

I agree. Be sure to mention that you want your hair texturized and not relaxed. And make sure to give them your definitions of texturized and relaxed or else they'll make their own assumptions.

A consultation is important in such cases.

-Does the stylist you've chosen have experience texturizing for clients, or do all their patrons get full relaxers?
-If you have a specified time in mind that you know is suitable for your hair, you should ask the stylist during the consultation to time the relaxer such that it's applied and smoothed for x minutes.
-You and s/he must agree on how long an application is required to texturize and not fully relax your hair.
-The stylist should also tell you whether your hair texture will require smoothing to texturize it or not.

Take a timer in with you to the appointment just in case.
