Hi, ladies i can not thank you enough again. I have not had any breakage for a month, and my hair is really taking off. I think it has grown an inch at least, and my natural hair is near bra strap with shrinkage!!! Thank you again for suggesting clarifying with ACV or baking soda. Ever since added these into my routine, i have had no problems. My hair was breaking from too much build up which led to horrible tangles and knots. I sweat a lot, so now i clarify almost at every wash because i work out. Also, i added Redken All Soft with my pantene conditoner. The mixture added the strength that i was missing. I love this conditioner, because i use a dime size and it is so effective. My hair now has a perfect balance of strength and moisture. These changes have completely transformed my hair. It is shiner and stronger than ever. The main change i have made in my routine is i have not shampooed in month because the clarifying cleans it throughly. It is adding moisture on top of more moisture with the conditioner. I love it. Thank you again ladies. i do not know what i would do with out you guys. Sorry for the length. I just had to share.

Great news Steph

I didn't know that breakage can cause buildup? Maybe that's why so much of my hair comes out when I wash and condition. Could this be true??

BTW, congrats on your growth! I may have to try the ACV rinses.

I am so happy for you...Your hair is beautiful and Im glad you managed to find the right combo of things to fix the problem. Can you tell us a little about the baking soda thingie? How do you use it and how much?

Hi, everyone. For the baking soda rinses. I take around quarter size and mix in with water with a cup or bottle. You guys can use distilled water if that works best for you, and i put the mixture on my scalp, and rub in like shampoo on each part section of my hair. I still wash in the sink. After that i just rinse it out and then condition. I notice after this the conditoner really soaks in and retains the moisture. My hair use to feel hard sometimes after i condition, but not now because i clarify almost every wash. The conditioner work wonderful everytime. I tend to use baking soda more because ACV is little strong but both work great. I am still trying to perfect my clarifying rinses. HTH, i am still working on it.

So your natural hair is bra strap length without it being straightened? That's great, what length did you begin with?

DDHair, I started of with with neck length natural hair with collarbone straightened in August 2002. My hair will probably not get to much longer because my hair shrinks a lot no matter what length. I try to stretch my length with buns.

That is great Steph, I might try this method of clarifying since it's cheaper than a clarifying shampoo and I could buy it and my fiance wouldn't know it was a hair product in disguise

Steph, what are the other steps in your haircare system besides clarifying? I would like to know as I am anticipating hair growth myself. What are some of the products you use..how often do you wash your hair, etc.

Steph, that is wonderful growth, you go!!!

I'm really thinking of trying that baking soda rinse... I was a bit leary on the ACV but one question..does the baking soda leave the hair a bit gritty? and do you mind sharing your regime

hi Natori and Marseeya, here is an update on my routine. I wash my hair every two to three days depending on the dryness with baking soda and conditioner. The conditioner I use are Pantene S/S and Relaxed and Natural with a mixture of EVOO. I pour maybe a quarter size of EVOO my palms in mix it in with my conditioner. In addition, i add a drop or two of Redken All Soft conditioner. This step is crucial because I notice my hair is stronger and retains more moisture even in dry environments with heat. Since i am in school, I wash my in the sink because the water in my shower is too hard. When I wash, I part my hair into four sections, and then i clarify first with baking soda and rinse. When I wash my hair in the shower at home, I do not part my hair into sections. Lastly, I add my conditioner mix, rinse out, and then i seal my ends with a dab of Pantene S/S and EVOO mixed in. I use to not put in leave ins because my hair was too limp, but now i know to distribute my leave in evenly. I try to limit my washes to twice a week, but since i workout. I have to wash, and manipulate more often which i do not like. But on the positive side my hair feels clean all time. I hope the helped. If both of you have any further questions, feel free to pm me.
