Today I washed my hair and everythign was great. My combout went ok I have alot of shedding but there were no tangles and very little breakage. UNTIL I got to sculting my hair behind so I would have a sleek ponytail.
Then I saw a brown patch that looked like too much product before you know it that brown patch turned out to be a head full of dry scalp peeling away.

I ranted before about these flakes and I not only have I cut back my surge but I cut it out- I think that it should not be used for continuous use. The only thing I have done recently is blowdry my hair when it is still wet in the morning because the AC at work leaves me with some serious colds.I have also tried to use more oils coconut, almond, castor etc -could it be build up?

I posted pics in my summer album

Please help!

PS for those who have dry scalp how do you get the flakes out without losing all that hair.

Karonic so you feel my pain!
And once I see dry scalp I immediately scratch it out and it ends up looking much worse!!!

Do you use Hot Six as an oil for hair or the scalp?

I sure do. I used to use grease but for over a month now, it's either been the Hot 6 or Botanicals Oil on my scalp. My hair in the back is very fagile and when it's wet, I have to comb super gentle or else, I will literally hear it break. I got a touch-up three weeks. Prior to that, I hadn't had a touch-up in 11 weeks. It was the same perm (Exclusives) that I'm used to getting. I'm thinking that maybe the bleach (yeah my hair was bleached in March

) or increase in anti-thyroid meds caused this, but the breakage is only in the back.

*sigh*

I think it was a sign from God to just leave my hair alone for the time being. I'm wearing instant weaves so I don't have to deal with my hair everyday. My hair isn't noticeably thinner except a little on the left, but that's how it's always been. Eh well. I've been dealing with dandruff for years, but I don't think Hot 6 is helping the situation but my hair really doesn't itch. Still the flakes won't go away.

I'm gonna have to find something else for my scalp, I don't want to start back greasing because it's messy. I prefer oils.

I have the same problem, my doctor told me I have serebric dermititis (sp?). For me the itching and flackes come and go so its not a constant thing. Lately it has started again and I have begun using sulfur 8 to help. Sulfur 8 as you know isn't the greatest smelling thing in the world but it workd for me. I had a friend look at my scalp after I used it for a couple days and she could see an immediate difference. Also I find that wonder 8 oil also helps and drinking lots of water. If you think your problem is more severe you may want to see a doctor who could prescribe a shampoo or some type of foam for you. HTH.

OMG, Bimbabe! I have a similar problem, and it's been getting on my nerves so bad. Whenever I think I might have a cute hairstyle to wear, I'll look in the mirror & see a flake sitting on my head like a bug. Then I brush that away, and then see another flake. It is so annoying because I need to stop manipulating my hair so much, but with the flakes I have to wash, scrub, and comb all of the time.

To get the flakes out, I'll use my K-Cutter comb. It has smooth metal teeth, so I can go over my scalp in little circular motions. This pushes the flakes up away from the scalp. Then I line my bathroom sink with a paper towel, and comb the flakes out over that. After all of this, I have to follow with a good wash & ACV rinse.

Lately, I've just been wearing headwraps, and I'm trying to go without combing & washing so much by wearing cornrows.

I have the same problem! Nothing helps and I'm cool with it now...I usually just rinse my hair everyday. If I go a day without I have severe dandruyff by the time my whole head dries. At least it doesnt affect growth!

Head and Shoulders has a new product out, a hair lotion to use in-between dandruff shampoos. Do you think it may help?

Since I've been doing my EVOO treatments, I haven't had any dandruff.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies!
It must be something in the air. The only other things I have changed internally has been a new bc pill.(I drink alot of water and take my vits)
I decided to stick to a basic shampoo and conditioner and gradually reintroduce other products.

I really think the dry scalp has alot to do with being inside the AC all of the time especially since it has been really cold with rain.

You may actually be allergic to an ingredient in one of your products. I have heard of coconut oil being known to cause reactions in some people. Just a thought.

Just a suggestion... whenever you get a case of the flakes, you may want to try shampooing your hair with Neutrogena T-Gel and then follow it with a second shampoo that is more moisturizing (let's not forget a moisturizing conditioner as well).

This is what I do whenever my daughter gets a case of the seb. derm. The shampoo helps to gently exfoliate the scalp without all of that shedding.... Hope this helps.
