Are there any ladies in Texas that are transitioning with the Hot Comb? I'm thinking of making the big transition but need help on how to stop my hair from reverting. My last relaxer touch up was 10 weeks ago. Anyone can jump in on this one...

When I tried to press my hair with 2 different textures the comb would stop at the relaxer. So I used protective styles like cornrolls and sewn-in weave. I did this for a year and a half. As far as "reverting" the humidity and my hair naturally trying to re-coil I just gave it up and sported my natural.

I've heard that using a 'glosser' would help, Ishevonne. Maybe you could give one a try? If you do, I'd love to know how it works. I'm flirting with the idea of transitioning with the help of a hot comb some time.

I am transitioning and prior to last week, I was having my hair hot curled at the salon. Washed, setting lotion, dried, then Hot Curled or Flat Ironed.

As far as reverting. When I exercise (at home) I clip my hair away from my scalp so that the sweat does not get to it. Now I am involved in a self induced heat challange and am having it roller set 2X/week - until it grows long enough for me to manage it myself.

I lived in Houston prior to moving back to Dallas about a month ago. I have been transitioning for 11 months now. Out of the 3 or 4 times I have gotten my hair straightened, I have not kept my hair straight longer than a week or week and a half, but it wasn't necessarilly because of the humidity, it was because I wanted to put my products on and it was driving me crazy that I couldn't. I got my hair straightened Thursday and I am hoping that the cold weather and my patience will help me to keep my hair straightened longer, because I don't plan on getting it straightened again until late January or February. What part of Texas are you in?

I live in Austin. I've been doing Flat Twist Outs and a Bun. Both seem to be working ok.

Thanks for the help ladies...
