Dr. Naptrl :)
I'm natural of course, but I had to get my hair pressed yesterday because I'm going to get micro braids for my cousin's wedding which is on November 13th. Well, when I got home, my husband just went on and on about how beautiful my hair was and that I'm absolutely gorgeous like this and on and on and on...He begged me not to get braids again and I told him that wasn't possible. He pouted for a while (jokingly), and then tried to make a deal with me. He said that If I wear my hair out for a whole month, he will not go fishing, stay in the house and do anything I want, AND pay for me to get it pressed. You have to understand that that's a big deal for him! He can't stand to be in the house for long, he's really an outdoor person, and He LOVES to fish and goes almost EVERYDAY. For him to agree to something like that...He must want me to wear my hair out REALLY bad! But...He's messing up my challenges. That blows the no heat, no measuring, braids, less manipulation, and consistency challenges out of the water! This could set me back!! Why do men like hair that's down soo much? What should I do?!!

It seems as though some men just really love hair that's down. If it's going to mess up your challenges, let him know. I'm sure he wouldn't want your hair taking any chances.

Men always do things like this. Most of us die-hard hair growers and health mavens have gone through it at some time or another with an SO or DH. If he understands what you're trying to do and what it requires, and you leave it down special for him sometimes, they get over it. Especially when they see longer term results. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hmm I might be inclined to leave my hair out a little bit longer before getting braids- but I'd explain to him that my hair will be even longer and healthier if I went longer times between getting my hair pressed. I'm supposed to be getting my hair pressed soon and my dh has never even seen it pressed (I've only been pressed once in 3 years and that was for a trim while I was out of town). Men can just get really excited about change so maybe you can try new styles once you are back out of the microbraids?

Thanks girlss...I've been trying to explain to him why I have to wear the braids, but he's not hearin it!! This is really not a problem, it's all in fun, but I would like to grant his requests sometimes. Previously, I was like.."I'm not even thinking about it." But, I may give it a try...

I think if you talk to him about what you are trying to do, he will understand. But if I were you, since I was already pressed, I would wear it that way for a while to please my hubby since he wont get the opportunity to enjoy it for quite some time.

I would do it for my husband if it made him that happy. Wait, I say that now, but I know when I tell my husband that I will be wigging it for a few months, he will probably be like OK, when am I gonna see your REAL hair /images/graemlins/rofl.gif

I think your hubby sounds so sweet. I guess this is when married couples practice give and take. Can you go the route of phonyponys or falls so that you can remove them at your leisure? My BF is adamant about no weaves despite my impatience to have long hair and protect my hair. Therefore, I wear my hair down around him on the weekends when I see him but during the week it's all buns, all the time. BTW, his negotiating is too cute!

Yeah, I'll probably do it. I've got to make the stakes a little higher though because he will be trying to go fishing while I'm at work /images/graemlins/spank.gif

I totally understand naptrl, it's what they don't say that you gotta watch for. My husband thinks he is so slick in some of his negotiations. He always catches me with some type of loop hole /images/graemlins/rofl.gif

They try to be tricky, girl...But we're always 10 steps ahead!!I can see a loophole a mile away, in the dark, blind folded!! /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thats soooo cute! My fiance prefers my hair relaxed. When I went through my trying to go natural he only liked it for a lil. So I relaxed it again. I say it's all up to you!!

Compromise, tell him your hair cant take the heat required to do it for a month and just do two weeks. (I'm assuming you are pressing your hair once a week after a shampoo and deep conditioning.) Good luck and the others are right, he sounds adorable. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
