How would you wear your hair for a cruise?

I'll be going for a week to the carribean, I have NO IDEA what to do to my hair:spinning::drunk:

I doubt that I will swim much, but I really don't want to be fighting with it when I'm not going to be taking all of my normal stuff. Also my hair turns into an automatic poofball when it gets humid.

Any ideas, suggestions, recs would be very helpful!

Thanks in advanced!

I always carry a small arsenal of phony ponies when I go on cruises. Believe it not, they worked in and out of the water for me! The other women I go with usually have their hair braided as their low-maintenace option.

If you go with ponies, take one that can work with a variety of looks. I actually take three. I have a wavy one for the water (blends in well with my wet hair). A long curly one for formal evenings because I can style it into many different updos. And a simple straight one for casual outings if I want a quick change.

I LOVE cruises! :) I hope you have an awesome time!

No formal evenings unless we really want (whew!) When I was in Iceland I did braidouts pretty much every day, but didn't have to fight with humidity or sea water.

I thought about braids(then I remember can't braid that well :nono:...at least not enough to wear outside somewhere:lachen:)Though I like that suggestion. I'll have to check the salon board for anyone that does braiding in the Boston area.

Since I don't leave until the last week of october, I wanted to wait to relax the first week of October..but my new growth is being uncooperative and may not let me wait for long.

Also, I've never worn a phony pony...where would I get something like that? I honestly can't say i'd wear them outside of this cruise so don't want to spend a lot of money on something I may not wear much.

what about braids? i went to jamaica (not a cruise though) for 3 weeks and i WISHED i had braided my hair. it was a mess, i did wash-n-gos or bantu sets every day and experienced a lot of breakage because of that. i feel like every day was an ordeal with my hair and that's the last thing you want to worry about on a cruise!!!

oh just saw your reply.... yeah check out braids!!! you won't regret that decision.

^^^ what she said. I'm going on a cruise this week and just got my hair in cornrows where I can leave out and for the formal wear put it in a low bun.

I think braids are best. I've been on a couple of cruises and I saw a few women with braids that made me wish I'd done it myself. Next time..that's what I'll do. I used a couple of phony ponies and that worked well too but I really love the look of braids and I've never had them. So next vacation..it's braids and I'm going to get them in long. I love to wear big straw hats too when on vaca so it works with the braids.

Another vote for the braids. I've been on two cruises and had my hair cornrowed each time. It's just so much easier

I went on a cruise in August to the Caribbean and I did co-washes every day and just wore my hair in a bun. For some dinners and Captain's night I wore it out in a wng. Have fun and good luck!
