How to use a curling iron....

So, I rid my home of all heating elements (with the exception of a hooded dryer) ions ago. I have also been mostly bunning or updoing my hair for the regular day and only wear my hair out or officially "styled", when I'm going somewhere. There are occasions where I don't have time to get to the salon b4 I step out or if i go on vacation etc and want to wear a cute style.
That being said...how the heck do I use a curling iron? The last time I used one I WAS NOT into hair care and used it all the time to "fry, die and lay to the side". Also my hair is very thick and heavy so if i don't put a holding product on, the curl will drop b4 I hit the door. Any suggestions on irons or products to experiment with? I don't plan to use it that often.

I don't own a curling iron either, but if you are going to purchase one you should get a ceramic iron since it is better for your hair and make sure to use a heat protectant. Personally, I would get a set of caruso steam rollers since they curl really nicely and they are easier on your hair than a curling iron. Another suggestion would be some hot rollers that can set your hair in about 2 minutes. HTH

^^^ITA with the above, but if your going to get one and use it try to find one that has a temperature dial...that way at least you can control the amount of heat your applying to your hair.
