Here's my thing with rollersets - I do them all the time. I usually roll my hair (dry) overnight and then finger combing in the morning. However, based on feedback I'm getting from my hair dresser and even my own observations, but I think this results in breakage . . . this pains me because I *love* to do rollersets. Any tips on how to make them easier on my head? Or should I just order Macherieamour's video? :lachen:

What kind of rollers are you using overnight??

I know that changing your roller position will help. Rolling in the same spots over and over will cause breakage. I don't think I roll my hair the same each wash.

That is good advice. I switch between flexirods and covered sponge rollers (not the pink sponge ones -these are leopard print).

It's totally worth it

Before watching the DVD, I'd tried to rollerset my hair in the past and failed miserably. The DVD made it look so easy...even though my first attempt took an hour!! My hair looked really good afterwards and I was at least 2 months post relaxer.

I'm in braids right now but looking forward to rollersetting again!

To reduce breakage, I'd recommend using the smooth rollers and making sure your hair is soaking wet

I haven't rollerset in a month, :eyebrows2 but I would say:

-Use magnetic rollers
-Reverse rollerset as much as you can
-If you use metal clips, then learn how to use one clip to hold two rollers
-Don't roll your hair too tightly
-Don't try to put too much hair on one roller
-Try to part your hair in different patterns when you rollerset

Have you tried mesh rollers? Sponge rollers (covered an uncovered) pull out my hair.

I've been using mesh rollers for over 10 years with no damage.

Maybe u need to try some products that increase elasticity so your hair will have a greater ability to stretch without snapping. My hair wasnt holding curl well and I assumed it was lacking elasticity....I just started using nexxus elastin and humectin and the elasticity has improved a lot...like I got springy curls that bounce back instead of limp ones that fall out quickly. I normally wont use shampoos with sulfates unless Im clarifying, but I think its a great line for improving elasticity so I think Ill use it once a week and something else my other wash (I wash twice a week).

What is this nexxus elastin product you speak of??? I already use nexxus humectress and also diametress shampoo . . . is there a product called elastin or is that an ingredient?

Rollerset hair wet+leave in+oil= No Breakage. :yep:

I will admit the thought of rollersetting right now makes me CRINGE because my wrist is acting up...carpel tunnel. I wanted curls though so I airdried and then flat ironed and used the gold Solar Rollers while hair was still hot. The curls were great!! I think they are sale at Walgreens right now!

I rollerset 2x each week (since 2003) and do not get breakage.
It's probably your technique and there are several different ones mentioned on this board.

BTW, get Macherieamour's DVD as a gift for yourself. She provides a lot of good, useful info you can use for years to come.:yep:
