I hear alot of people predicting how much new growth they get a month or some people don't relax until they have one inch of new growth. My question is how do you measure your new growth? I'm still new to this whole hair thing so I just know I have new growth but I don't know how much.

Since my hair is relaxed, it is easy to see the new growth coming in. There is a contrast between the new growth and the relaxed part of my hair. I can feel it with my fingers. I can gently stretch the kinky coils out to see how much new growth I have, which is my added length.

For those with type 1 hair, for example, with hair that comes out of the scalp already straight, it would be difficult to see just the new growth.

Thanks for the response. I was trying to see if anyone use a certain technique. I think I get the idea.
