So I wanted a Brunsli's hair tie but they're always out of stock! Also, they were kinda expensive. But it looked like they could be made pretty easily. Here are some images of those and similar hair ties. And they can! I made a how to video you can see here:

I wanted thicker elastic but couldn't find it. If you find some, let me know. I used 1mm thick. It gets doubled for the tie, so it's strong enough at least for me. But I would like thicker. Actually, there was up to 2mm available but then it started to get pricey and was only available in clear when I wanted black.

WOW! You know you have a following...right?

 Thanks!

WOW!! You are awesome...! What ELSE do you do!!!:grin:

:blush: Thanks, y'all. But really, it's easy to figure out how to do once you see the tie. I just have to search around for more exotic gogos or pendant pieces. Another good place to get them is artbeads.com

I've made dozens of these and have found the hole in the hair pipe varies. Sometimes I could not get my elastic thread through the hairpipe :nono:.

Good morning Mwedzi,

Let me ask you something. When making hair ties have you ever had trouble getting the tied portion of the elastic inside the hair bone? I do. Matter of fact, most of the ties I have made I can't get the knot inside becuause it is too big to fit. :ohwell: Don't know if I need small mm thread OR need to learn another way to tie. I rewatched your You Tube video and you mentioned "the way you tie shoelaces"???

I've gotta get this down 'cause I need to move some of these to recoup expenses (plus, I just think they're way cool) and that unfinished piece is too unprofessional to sell.

I have never been unable to get the knot through the hair pipe. I have these hair pipes (I think)

and this elastic:

Very good and generous of you to share.

I made a ton of these thinking that I would sell them at a local flea market, but like a lot of things in my life I didn't follow through and I made some pretty ones with Wooden donut beads and mother of pearl and some with gemstones and dangling charms.

Just one more tip, after I put the knot through the hair pipe , I dropped a drop of crazy glue in the hole to secure the knot from slipping back through.

DV,

Why not take pics, put up on Fotki and offer 'em to us? Soon as I get job down here I would love to check 'em out. They are like a new collectible item for me it seems. Love these things.
