Hey,
I've been doing a lot of researching on LHCF about co-washing but I still havent found my answer.:perplexed

1. What products to use to co-wash?
2. When should it be done on dry hair or wet?
3. Should it be applied overnight and sleep on it or in the morning and go under the dryer.

I am very confuse. I want to start this weekend? Hmmmmm?????? I really want to but let see.

O I can never get to much answer. The more the better.

Thanks in advance:trampolin

I do it in the shower on wet hair. I use a variety of cheapie conditioner [Suave and Vo5] and I use the conditioner like its shampoo, lather up or whatever, then wash up and shave .. then rinse it.

I do it the same way, I shampoo. Basically it is shampooing just with a conditioner. Wet, lather and rinse, repeat, LOL.:spinning:

I use White Rain Tropical Coconut and sometimes I will add honey to my hair with the conditioner on it and then wash my body and then rinse it all out. So I let it sit on my head for about 3-5 mins. or however long it takes me to wash my body. Sometimes I also will put my Giovanni Condish on my hair and then put the White Rain on top and mix it all in my hair and then rinse.

You did ask for all that but, hope it helps! LOL!

Also, I co-wash everyday or every other day, 3 times a week at least.

^^ Agree. Cowashing is just like washing w/shampoo, only it's done w/conditioner, hence the name (conditioner + wash= Cowash). When you apply shampoo the night before then rinse in the morning, I consider this more of a pre-poo (pre-shampoo treatment) than a cowash. As far as products, it varies by individual, what you like, and what your hair needs. Some days I'll use a moisturizing con and others I'll use something that's for body, or light protein. I use pretty much anything I have but like cheapies because my hair is thick and I'd rather save my more expensive products for DC's. 1 usually lasts 2, sometimes 3 CW's and I'd much rather be paying $.99 than $28 to replenish!

Hi J Glazin!

You said you haven’t found the info on co-washing you’re looking for, have you tried doing a search?

Since there are so many ways to co-wash, I can only speak for myself…

1. What products to use to co-wash?
I put this pre-poo treatment on my hair for about an hour:
http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=68944
and follow up with Suave Humectant Conditioner.

2. When should it be done on dry hair or wet?
My hair absorbs conditioner better when it’s wet so I only co-wash on wet hair.

3. Should it be applied overnight and sleep on it or in the morning and go under the dryer.
I couldn’t handle going to be with a wet head or a shower cap so I let the pre-poo and conditioner sit for at least an hour then rinse them out.

Like I said, since there seem to be so many ways of doing to co-wash, it’s all about doing what works best for you. I was fortunate enough to have “beginners luck” when finding co-wash products. Try not to stress; just relax and have fun trying new things and finding what works best for you. :)

I bet that smells AMAZING!!! If I wasn't so in love with Suave Humectant, I'd give it a try. ;)

1. What products to use to co-wash?
Any cheap conditioner or favorite conditioner. It's really your choice! I'm partial to Mane and Tail, but I've used Herbal Essence and VO5 for cowashes in the past too.

2. When should it be done on dry hair or wet?
Either/or but I prefer dry hair.

3. Should it be applied overnight and sleep on it or in the morning and go under the dryer.
Actually that's the definition of a prepoo and you can do that overnight. I usually use a conditioner with added oils as a prepoo and cover my hair with a conditioner cap. It helps a lot through the latter end of my stretch. Usually I'll use a more expensive deep conditioner with these, one with more natural/safer ingredients.

I would use either of Suave, VO5, White Rain, HE.... HE is my fav though

I like to put my cond. on wet hair

I put it on before showering, then after my shower the last thing I do is rinse my hair for 3-5 min. I dont like to do overnight cond. treatments caus my hair is already soft and I dont want it to be too soft.

1. What products to use to co-wash? Like the others any cheap conditioner. I am trying to use up my products so I use any kind of conditioner. Think of it like shampooing your hair. In this case, I just co-wash and that's it (don't add conditioner)
2. When should it be done on dry hair or wet? I do it in the shower some my hair is wet.
3. Should it be applied overnight and sleep on it or in the morning and go under the dryer. I have deep conditioned overnight, but haven't used just regular conditioner. You can, but I wouldn't do this every day.
