Hey ladies!
I know that alot of naturals look for healthy, and quick ways to define their curls so i thought id post my regime and what works for my type
4a-ish hair.

So basically after washing and deep conditioning my hair, I spray in my Aphogee leave-in, and Green Tea reconstructurizer, liberally. Then I place a plastic cap on my head for about 10 minutes just to get the nutrients time to penetrate my strands before I put a thicker moisturizer in.

Then I use my %100 Pure African Shea butter. I smooth it from my roots to ends. Then I use a regular brush (or use a denman) and brush through my hair until my curls pop back up. Then I lightly re-wet my hair, scrunch, then cover with a plastic cap for 1 hour. This allows the shea butter to set into my hair and seal in the moisture. After 1-2 hours of cap time, I let my hair air dry the rest of the way. This method has allowed me the most definition and I have tried many lotions, aloe gel ect. Also I find that the shea butter is really good on my face, it has actually cleared up my breakouts....overnight, i expected it to do the opposite (being a heavy product and all) but thank goodness it didnt:
Btw- i posted a pic the other day, i dont mean to be a pic whore but wanted to show you what my 4a hair looks like after this method....

btw- I have frizzy hair after I wash it and front doesnt even curl....using the leave-in conditioner then capping my hair make those stubborn parts really curl up.

It's very pretty Reachbree.

When you say "pure 100% african shea butter", are you talking about something you ordered or is this a brand name found in a regular store?

I'll probably try this method when I have nothing to do or time on my hands. It looks very nice.

Beautiful hair!

Umm but you are definitely not a 4a. Your curls are too big. You're in the 3's and it looks like you have a mix.

The name is just African Shea Butter...%100 natural. You can probably find it at your nearest Beauty Supply warehouse, there are also several websites that carries this even cheaper than what I paid for it. Ive also found that you can get it chunky...or churned, here's a pic of my tub:

Thank you for sharing the tips! I was told I have 3c and we have a similar hair texture. I thought I was 4a too though!

pretty curls, but def not 4A.
i have my whipped shea butter somewhere....i may have to dig it out and try.

PS pic whore my butt. WE WANT TO SEE MORE!!!

I love your hair! I am going to try the aphogee leave in. My hair is very fine and needs protein so I am going to try this.

Your hair is absolutely beautiful. But I agree your pictures show you are in the 3ish range. I am 4a. My curls are alot smaller. I must be blessed because I have awesome definition with any product I seem to use. Maybe when my hair grows longer I won't be so lucky

Your hair is gorgeous!! Thanks for posting this. I will definitely try this this weekend. :yep: Now I just need to find 100% shea butter!

That is EXACTLY the shea butter I use too! Small world. I mix it with 100% pure cocoa butter, AVG, Olive oil, grapeseed oil, Amla oil and a few other things and "whip it good." lol

Your hair is soooo beatfitul!!! You are in the 3's all day. Gorgeous!!

My hair is NOT your hair type, but definition is helped for 4a/b's with shea butter, pure aloe vera gel, and some Fantasia IC gel. I dunno...that's what makes my DD say...

DD: "Um...mommy?"
Me: "Yes?"
DD: "Your hair looks...did you do something?"
Me: "What's wrong, Deanna?"
DD: "It's curly?"
Me: "Oh, okay. Thanks for letting me know, baby..."

I am sure there are other ways, like using KCCC and Knot Today, etc but that's what I do when trying to get some curls to sort of show up...
