How safe are sew in weaves (question for my Mom)

Okay my mom is on the phone bothering me now, but I'm happy.

Right now she has a texturizer and I had to talk her out of getting a relaxer on top of it.
I think she wants to transition to natural but doesn't want to wear braids (because her hairline is like mine, really weak) and is getting tired of weekly flat ironings because she works out a lot.

Well a stylist just suggested a sew in weave for her and she asked my if that would be safe for her hair.

It's really thin, fine and soft. I really don't know that much about how safe sew in are for the hairline, and she wants to know how often to wash it. I told her I didn't really know and she was like "Go ask on that website!" So, help me out girls!

I have fallen in love with them you just have to take care of your hair under it while its in.(wash, condition, and oil your scalp) thats what I do and my hair is growing like weed.

Its much better than using bonding glue. I just think the stylist should be gentle with braiding AND sewing in and she should be fine. Moisturize!

They can be safe depending on the health of your hair before installing it, how you care for your hair underneath during and the length of the time it's left in. When I have a weave installed I wash and DC once a week, and moisturize every other day. I have left my weave in for as long as 13 weeks and it was a tangled mess (luckily no setback), so through trial and error my stylist and i have decided a safe time frame for my hair is 6-weeks.
