Hmmm,
I was in the mirror tonight minding my business and wrapping my hair when for some reason i looked at my comb and realized how OLD it was. My green comb has to be over 15 years old! It has always held up in heat, rain, sleet, snow. No matter how many times i've dropped it, lost & found it, ran it through my naps, it never broke a major tooth or had a major fault. Just normal wear & tear.

I rotate my brushes more often. The thought of all that dead, grimy hair and who knows what else lurking in the bristles makes me just throw it out rather than clean it so many times. Plus I love to buy new hair brushes yet i can't ever recall buying a new "Staple Hair Comb".

Does anyone own a comb/brush for an obscene amount of time? I think i'm gonna save mine and just pass it down to my own little girl one day. It could become a family heirloom if i wanted it to be, right? People don't keep cars or stay married that long!

My oldest comb is about 5 years old. I don't really use it that much anymore since I got my seamless combs:grin:. My mom has a comb that she's had for about 15+ years.

Mine is not old at all - I splurged on Mason Pearsons in July. But I will keep these combs for years and years.

I too throw away bristle brushes rather than keep cleaning them. Maybe one day, I will get a Mason Pearson brush - that will I will clean.

:lachen:Me too! I've had my green comb for at least ten years! Maybe it's the same green come? :ohwell::look:

I have one comb that's almost as old as I am. (32) I still use it from time to time. It used to be my mom's, so I doubt I'll ever throw it away.

My favorite brush is about 20 years old. :look: My mother brought it up one day when she was over here and I was brushing my hair. She was like wow you still have that brush? That brush is almost as old as you are. I have another equally old one around here somewhere. It's packed away in my stuff from college. I recently bought a new brush that's similar to my old favorite but it doesn't work quite as good at those two did. It's just not the same. :ohwell:

My combs and brushes are like sock siblings....you know how as soon as you wash them one of them gets lost? :perplexed My spidey senses thinks my 3 y/o tenderheaded daughter has something to do with the disappearance(s) of my styling tools. :scratchch

In answer to the original question...I purchase combs and brushes atleast 3 times a year. :ohwell:

I had a red comb that's prob 30 years old or older. I have always had that comb. I had a brush that about 15 years old. I had to keep getting new ones because I would break them over my brothers head when we were little. I haven't bought a comb in many years so they're all more than 3-4 years old.
