I've been keeping my ends moisturized and wearing protective styles for a what seems like a while, but I still don't see any results (LENGTH accumulation.) How long did it take most of you to see results?

Also, excluding the newcomers guide, what's a good link (or some good advice for me) on the basics of what I need to do to see some length?

So far, I've been trying to stay away from heat (only one press in 2 and 1/2 months as opposed to the weekly presses I used to get.) I've been keeping my ends moisturized (always have done that though) and I've been wearing a bun almost daily...still to the chagrin of everyone I know! I'm trying to take vitamins on a regular basis too.

What else should I be doing? I'm bra strap now, trying to get to "almost" waist length.

It took me about three months to really see results. Check out my album ;) . It takes a while to find a routine that your hair responds to and what works for you. For me, leaving it alone, no heat, vitamins, and protein shakes kick started everything. It will come. Don't worry. :yep:

I started haircare maintainance in April-May 2003 and by the end of that summer/end of September, My hair changed completely.

BTW: The longer your hair is, the less obvious the hair growth change will look. For instance, I started off with hair that was less than shoulder-length and by the end of that summer, I was a couple of inches from bra-clasp length. Big Big change.

Hon, by the end of the summer, you'll be complaining about "I have too much hair" syndrome

I'd have to agree with Anky, because this is exactly what I'm experiencing now. I was shooting for armpit by the end of 2005, having started this journey at a touch beyond shoulder length, but I think I'm going to achieve that goal a little ahead of schedule. And this is even taking into consideration that the summer growth spurt will end soon.

Wow. I guess I'm not patient. I'm wanting to see those 3-4 inches by November! Anyone else want to put in some word on this subject?

I'm having trouble figuring out a routine. I don't really have one - I'm just trying to keep my hair moisturized, especially my ends! I've been trying to baggy at night, but other than that I don't have a routine...I need to find one. I guess that just comes from seeing how your hair responds to things?

Hopefully this lack of heat (excluding these last 3 weeks in which formal evening events REQUIRE me to be pressed) will help me out and I can see some lenght accumulate...quickly. :perplexed

oh Anky, I hope so!!! :) I've been the same length for 2-3 years and I'm sick of it. I know exactly where I want to go with my hair, the length, the style, the cut, highlights everything...while MOST IMPORTANTLY keeping it HEALTHY! I just see how fast all of your hair has grown and I'm saying to myself "C'mon hair!!! What's taking so long?!?!"

Will these 3 straight weeks of once weekly pressing really do a lot of damage? What can I do to counter the damage (as much as possible?) To prevent any potential damage from the heat?

And there's no cure for that except a shiny pair of scissors. And believe me, there will be plenty of haters around you that would be more than eager to finish the job. But if i can think of a syndrome to have, the "too much hair" one is the one to beat.

Here's to reaching your goal! :)
