How much natural hair should I have if I cut the relaxed hair off after transitioning for about 1 year? Would it be enough for a little puff? I love keeping my hair in braids to let it grow out longer but I'm tired of dealing with braiders that may braid too tight and/or pulling the hair roughly when parting. I tried doing the wigs thing but they always look like I got on a hat tipped to the side.

Well that would really depend on how much is left after you cut. Most hair grows from .01"-1.5" per month with the medium at 0.5 inches per month.

So add it up and try to pass it while you grow your hair out.

If your hair grows average, I would expect to see 6 inches when you BC after a year. But if you have a lot of shrinkage, you probably wouldn't see 6 inches of hair unless you straightened. Also, if your hair grew slower or faster you might see less or more hair than 6 inches.

You should see how much NG you have now and see how long it took to get that. Then you can compare it to how much you should have after a year.
