I just self relaxed today and I swear that a TON of hair came out! :wallbash: Mostly long hairs.

So, how much is too much????

I don't think you're supposed to lose ton of hair.

Did you do a protein treatment a few days before you relaxed?

In the past I would lose a ton of hair too but that was before I started doing protein treatments before I relaxed.

I'm currently not losing hair when I relax. I lost only a few longer strands which is now normal for me anytime I wash my hair. This doesn't scare me because I don't usually comb through my hair during the week. I just bun if it's pulled back or fluff it out if it's curled. I figure the hair I lose is what would have come out if I'd combed my hair during the week. I don't know why, but for some reason I did an olive oil treatment this time before I self relaxed. After washing out the relaxer and before putting on the neutralizing shampoo, I did a deep moisturizing conditioning, then neutralized, then chelated, then went through the OCT process. So far, so good.

i lose a lotta hair when i do the relaxing steps wrong. don't protect the other relaxed hair enough, rush my neutralizing

Well, you're not supposed to lose hair like that when you relax. I recently lost a BUNCH during my last relaxer, but I figured that is bc I probably didn't get all the dead hair out when I detangled. It was shed hair but b/c there was a lot of it I was a little freaked out. If you are sure you did all the steps right and this has never happened before, just make sure you are doing a thorough job detangling. Dead hair needs to come out and will definitely slide on out when you've relaxed.

BTW, I don't self-relax but I'm sure that could be the culprit if all the other bases are covered. It was for me. HTH!

This use to happen to me before I found LHCF... You need to make sure you clarify a few days before the relaxer, do a protein treatment a few days before and maybe if you don't already coat the previous relaxed ends with oil or oil sheen
