How Many Go To The Salon 2x Or More a Month???

I ask this because for the past two weeks every friday I have went to get a roller set and wrap. I had to get this done because my hair is underprocessed and I do not have a hair dryer. I cant find a good one that wont break the bank. Anywho air drying my hair doesnt help with the underprocessing issue because it doesnt come out straight. the only way for it to come out straight is through roller sets. i get them done and leave my hair out and i have little to no hairs coming out during the week. my hair seems fuller and lighter and softer.

i know some people dont like going to the salon but in my case i dont see many options. i also dont see how bad it could be for the hair seeing as if i had the same equipment at home and skills i would be roller setting my hair once a week too. am i the only one who goes to the salon more than just for a touchup?

If you can afford it and you feel that they are taking good care of your hair as far as it's health (like an excellent deep conditioner under the dryer)then go ahead. I don't see anything wrong with it. My mother goes every week to maintain her short cut.

I personally do not go except for my touch-up or a special occasion because when I would request a deep conditioner, I was usually told I didn't need one

I only go for relaxer touch-ups every 3 or 4 months. Other than that, I just do it myself.

I just started back going evey two weeks. My hair grows faster when I get it done at the beauty shop. My hair also looks much better and its easier to manage.

If I had the money I would be going on weekly basis. Its good to get pampered every once and a while. If they are not damaging your hair, then I don't see a problem.

I get my relaxer and washes at the salon every two (2) weeks. I go to the salon because I can't get my hair as straight.

As for special treatments, I put the hot oil on before the wash at the salon. I just go to the salon with a greasy head.

When I need a deep conditioner, I do it at home the night before and then go to the salon and let them wash and style.

I try to go to the salon at least 2 times a month. I really don't like washing my own hair, so I leave it up to them. However, when I'm feeling lazy I will do a conditioner wash until my next trip.

You guys are making me nostalgic. I used to go every 2 weeks when I was younger, then it tapered to every 4 weeks. But since the end of last year, it's only been when I needed a touch-up or my roots dyed. But I like doing my own hair and experimenting, so I'm not ready to return back to going on a regular basis yet. For now, it's just for perms and coloring.

I used to go twice a month. It is fine, as long as you don't allow them to overuse the "bad" heat appliances( blow dryer, curling irons) on your hair and watch those trims. Since you take good care of your hair, you should have great results.

yeah see i cant do the air drying thing and my blow dryers make me nervous and since i dont have a hair dryer at home AND i am underprocessed its like there arent many options. i have went twice for a wash and set and my hair looks fully, has body and moves, doesnt shed and feels soft. tomorrow i am going to do a condition wash and incoporate that into my schedule. 1) because i heard condition washes are good 2) i have some conditioners i want to try. plus its like 15 dollars for a wash and set on a friday and 20 with a deep conditioner and i usually spend that much on junk so at least its going towards something useful. I go every 12 to 16 weeks for a touch up and take my own rollers because I hate sitting under the dryer.

I would go every week if the prices in my area weren't so darn expenisve a rollerset or doobie here is at least $35!

I think as long as the stylist is doing what you like there's no problem.

Karonica, I used to go every two weeks as well, but that was when my mom was footing the bill that changed when I was 16 or 17, then it was every 4 wks. (that's how soon I was getting my touch-ups), and now it's at every 6 or 8 wks. for my touch-ups.

I can actually style my hair better than most "professional" stylists though

For real, I have really been trying to rollerset my hair for like a year now and i just cannot get it to look right. Dont u live in brooklyn, which dominican salon do u go to ? Also, do u find that the health of your hair has changed since going to them?

DITTO except I go every 8-9 weeks. I HATE salons and I hate sitting under the dryer.

When my hair was relaxed, I used to go for retouches every 12 weeks or so. However I was back at the salon every two weeks for wraps or blow drying as I never learnt how to do wash and dry my relaxed hair.

I only go a couple of times a year now I'm natural, more if I wanna treat myself

I used to go every 2 weeks but since joining this board, I go every 4 weeks....a touch up then 4 weeks later, a wash and roller set. In between, I wash and rollerset myself. I may start going more frequently in the fall when the weather cools down and a rollerset can last!
