Last night I dressed up for Halloween & I wore a half wig for the first time. I LOVED how I looked and so did everyone else- it was nice to have so much attention and to feel so beautiful. I know that taking care of my hair will eventually pay off, but how long will it take?

Since my hair is just now grazing my shoulders, how long do you think it will take (best case scenario) for it to reach my goal: bra strap length

*if you want to throw in some tips on how to make the process as fast as possible that would be great too :yep:

I think it would take a year and maybe a bit depending on your growth rate.

On average hair grows 6 inches per year.

So if your shoulder length I think you' about a year away, but that also depends on your torso. lol

Good luck.

It's funny you posted this. I am sitting under the dryer DCing thinking about this very question..lol. I think you can make it in a year. I'm hoping I can be BSL by this time next year.

It took me from Dec. 2008 to Sept. 2010

Forgot to add my tip: I did 2009 Bootcamp without using any passes, used wigs for my protective style

i just wish the "hair fairy" would just come by, wave her magic wand and go

*poof*

"you now have long hair because you have joined forums,
did your research
started your hair journey
took your vitamins
use your growth aides"

exhales, then inhales...

"eat wholesome foods, take your protein/chlorella/msm smoothie
exercise, and eat healthy...
did i leave anything out?
oh, and for being a sistah - 6 extra inches for your every day struggles for just being black."...

My advice is to try to enjoy the journey rather than worry about reaching goals. A watched pot never boils. You enjoyed the puff so why not continue to enjoy it. In the meantime, your hair will be kept up and away from clothes and air which wreck havoc on ends. and before you know it, your hair will be where you want it to be. Just don't miss out on the fun you could have with it now.

If you twist or braid it (even w/o extensions) you can minimize manipulation, then keep ends moisturized and sealed and protected and you should see progress creep up on you. I'm a believer in regular dusting and make the best progress when I do, but that's up to you.

Based on what you do and don't do I would give yourself a year and a half. But like Nonie said enjoy your journey and wear your half wig!

I began my journey in 2008 as a transitioner, and I was grazing SL when I bc'd. I made BSL earlier this year, but a setback with a scissor happy stylist took me back to APL. I got there for the second time in September. (APL to BSL took me about 6 months the first time; the second time, about 3 months due to regimen changes and a summer growth spurt.) Thus, I'd say anywhere between 18-24 months, depending on how healthy your hair is, the regimen you follow (including the amount you employ protective styling and hiding your ends), trims, and the possible setback.

HHG!
