Ok the instant I joined this site, I put my hair up in braids, well it's only been 3 weeks (this Saturday makes 3) and my braids are so loose already. My ego wants to think it was the nightly massages (haha)... Seroiously though, I am starting to accumulate buildup and I am trying my best to simply stretch this style to the 24th. My question is since I do see buildup, should I remove these braids immediately?

Nope....just re-do the edges b/c those are the most prone to breakage. Every 3 weeks is usually when they need to be touched up.

I wear braids all the time and with fortnightly assignments i am usually so busy that I sometimes end up wearing my braids for 6-8 weeks. I have noticed that because I wash my hair once a week or twice sometimes. Also because I mainly use pure oils(too many to mention) and a simple mosituriser(ORS olive oil lotion) - this helps in stopping this build up that sometimes even when I scrape my scalp with a nail I am not picking up any build up as there isnt any. So many you should look at what you are using as well as washing as build up can glog the pores and hinder your growing.
