How long does your hair have to be for a puff?

I think this style is so cute. I ran across this video and I was like YEA finally someone with a hair texture similar to mines and it's short like mines. I would like to think my hair is the same length as hers but it's so uneven I'm not sure. I am def going to try this style today. Also do you think this style is too rough on the edges? I am trying to grow my edges back to and I don't want to put too much stress on them. I like her though and her personality, can't wait to see her hair transform with mines.

i'm sure that any length would be fine, but it does appear that it's causing a lot of stress to her edges. I wouldnt want to do it often if my edges would end up looking like that.

I've worn a puff with as little as 2 inches before. It is tough on the hairline though, not something you want to do everyday, even at longer lengths.

Hers was very cute! *Will not BC again, will not BC again...*

I also have edges issues.

That looks a bit too stressful. That band is really tight.

I tried doing a little puff too:

Not sucessful, but I think I could make it decent looking if I really tried

I think maybe if you sat the band a little further back as opposed to pushing it, it would do less stress to your edges. I kind of cringed as she pushed that headband back...

OP, you probably have enough have to puff, I think you can puff at just about any length.

I don't think I would use that type of headband, use a nylon or the stretchy ones that are in the 4pack. I tried those headbands and they were sooo tight on my head (plus I have a big head).

Those headbands more suitable IMO for a puff placed further back.

Your hair is longer than mines. Alot longer so of course you can do a puff lol. It's cute BTW!

Her edges were damaged by a perm. I think she's going to grow them back sucessfully. She's in the beginning stages and alot of us have been there. Her hair is so healthy I am sure she's going to be able to grow her edges back. She has the right attitude and for the most part she is gentle with them from what I can see.

I have Scrunci brand headbands and something similar to hers too but maybe a smalled band width. If it feels too tight I am going to take it down but I like my eyebrows pulled up a lil anyways.

I like puffs to but not if its going to eat my edges up. I'd get me some Goody's stretchy headbands if I were going to do it.

I just watched the video again. My hair is not as long as her lol but it does kinda look the same length in her shrunken state.

these headbands that come in a 4pack where might I find those? wal mart? I am going to see if I can find a pic of the ones I have, and then try to figure out how to post it.

I agree with the ladies above it is doable but be careful with your edges. I would not recommend doing this daily.

Oh wow I can't believe it was that easy. I forgot how to do this. Not the best pic . I will see if I can find a better one. But I have this size and their smaller size which maybe for kids.

While looking for a pic of this headband I ran across so many hair accesories. I didn't know Wal Mart had cute hair accesories and now I see scunci has some cute hair accesories too.

i was doing a puff after My BC with 3-4" of hair and i had enough.

i have seen them on 1-2" hair and it was cute as well. yea puffs are cute but its a style i wouldn't wear everyday. it can be stressful on some peoples hairlines. wear it sparingly.

^^ I agree this shouldn't be done very often and it's most probably doable if your length is similar to hers (in the video you shared).

IMO, she REALLY pulled on her edges for the styles in the video. Maybe try to lay down your edges with a scarf for a few hours so you won't have to pull them so much to do the puff.

Good luck, please share pictures :-)

those are some pretty shiny waves. I plan to use a lil gel to slick down my edges, for shine, and wave defintion.

I will not wear this everyday.

I wore my hair in banana clips and puffs, and eventually just puffs when my hair got too big for banana clips, for about a year. I have always done my puffs exactly the way she is doing hers. Now that my hair is longer I usually have to put the headband around my puff one more time after I have pushed it back so it looks like a puff and not a pushed back fro. I haven't had any problems with my edges. My hair is coarse though and her's looks like it is very fine. It definitely looks like she is dealing with the after effects of something that happened before she went natural, probably why she went natural.

I use Goody's stretchy headbands because they are nice and strong. They definitely stretch out as I use them and get to big to use so I buy 3 or 4 packs at I time. Did feel like she was manipulating her hair more than necessary though.
