How long do you give a product to work for you

It depends, I just play with it. I wait until my hair is completely dry to know if I don't like a conditioner or poo or not. If it doesn't leave my hair really soft, or if my hair feels hard, I usually don't use it again.

Usually I'll try it out again after a month or so with a different method to see if it was just my method with the product I didn't like. If nothing changes, and I STILL don't like it, I just toss the con

Good question. I KNOW I don't give them enough time. I used to use things once, hate it and throw it out without trying it on both wet AND dry hair or mixing it with anything. (I've wasted a LOT of money on hair products) However, since LHCF, I've learned there's a lot you can try out to make products better. Now, I've decided that I'll give a product 3 months or until it runs out.

DC's, I'll give one try, unmixed, on freshly clarified hair.

Leave-in's, I'll give a couple of tries in different seasons, on wet/dry hair, etc. I don't throw them out though, I'll save them to mix.

Regular con's, I'll give a couple of tries. If I hate, they get mixed in with a DC.

Urm. I don't use shampoo, don't use heat - I guess that's about all I experiment with.

Oh, cleaners - I'll give them about two tries.

thanks ladies for taking the time to reply. I purchased the joico moisture recovery line and was not wowed by it after my first use. I will give it three months, or untill all the product is gone, before I call it a miss. thanks ladies

I dont think you should try a product if your far into stretching. Because most of the time your not going to like it. I say try products when you have a fresh relaxer with little to no NG:grin:

I think this is really true. I bought Elasta DPR 11 about 8 weeks post I hated it, my hair felt really weird and strangely tangled, no slip. But said to myself that I would try it again once I touched up my hair. I relaxed my hair this past week and used it again and find that my hair really liked it. I will use a product once, but if I don't like it. I dont throw it out I just wait a few weeks or months and try it again, if I still don't like it then I know that it is not for me.

Twice at the most. I will try it the second time in a mixture or on dry hair. If I still don't like it, I will add it to the big mixture of ones I wasn't crazy about alone. If it's a protein, I hold onto it just in case, and eventually throw away.

I use a product twice as well before it gets a verdict in my mind. I was not wowed by Moisture Recovery either, but I will use it as a prepoo or during the winter when I wash twice a week, so a poo with major slip is not required.

I do not toss products though unless they completely suck - make my hair dry or tangled and have 0 slip. Instead, I try to find a way to use it. I didn't like HE LTR products conditioner, so I prepoo with it instead. I try to make it work! The so-so products make me really appreciate my true loves. :lick:
