How long after washing do you relax?

I always wait 5-7 days, but I have a friend who relaxes the day after or the same day as washing ...Is this safe?

Years ago I remember being told that you should wait at least 24 hours. I try to wait at least 2 days.

I always wait 2 days at the least. Usually it's around 3 or 4. I like to make sure there will be sufficient residue on my scalp before I put those chemicals on it.

I have relaxed as soon as the next day several times.
You are generally advised to wait 2 days to minimize chemical irritation on the scalp.
