how is emu oil made

How do they get the oil? Do they kill the bird, wait till its dies, extract it some how? I'd like to know how they get the oil before I purchase it, however I can't seem to find a site that will give me the answer to that question. TIA

The commercial Emu is a totally used product.

Leather, oil, meat, feathers, toenails and beaks are all marketed as value-added emu products.

I did a google search for "extracting emu oil" and I found this excerpt and website:

"Briefly, once the fat is separated from the carcass, the hide is removed from the fatty tissue and the fat is then ground and melted for the recovery of the crude oil."
