Hey Ladies,

I am just curious. How does your SO feel about natural hairstyles? Does he think they are "too big"? Prefer straight? or Lovin' your au naturelle??

I was already natural when I met my husband...although he's never said anything negative about my natural hair I do know that he prefers long hair. He really likes my wash n' go, I can't wait for it to grow out. I plan on doing a length check at the end of my countdown ticker and hopefully surprise him with the length.

When I had a twa he said that I looked "militant" so when I dyed my hair auburn he said I looked like a "soft militant". :lachen:

My hubby doesn't mind whether my hair is in its natural state or relaxed. For him he's just happy if my hair is healthy looking oh and long so he's looking forward to my hair growing even more.

As for styles, im a lil style challenged but he loves it when i wear braid-outs, he thinks bantu knots would look good on me and he likes the look of twists.

I'm concidering transitioning to natural, and I asked him about it...he didn't say much..I think he said ".............oh yeah?........................."

My SO likes BIG LONG HAIR whether it's relaxed or not. I think he prefers the curly stuff a little more, and BIG afros like Betty Davis are especially sexy to him.

I'm going natural and he doesn't like the idea of the BC because I'll have short hair for a while...

Such an honest answer! I love it! You didn't ask him while he was watching football did you girl?

My SO loves my natural curly hair.:yep: The bigger it gets the more he likes it.

He was the one who encouraged me to transition and motivated me to embrace my curls.

My hubby really just wants it to look good whether flat-ironed or curly - but he definitely likes it long. I do not have wash n-go hair - it'sAPL and natural and when I wash it, it does all kinds of things - some of it is straight, some is curly, and then frizzy. I have to really do things with it and when I do the braid-out - it looks good for 2-3 days, then it's a bushy mess. When he met me, I was the Dominican roller-set/blow queen.

He actually told me on one of my bushy/wild days "I didn't sign up for this..." You best believe he didn't see none of this for two days. But then I had to laugh because, he was right!

My hubby does not like natural hair. I mentioned going natural about a year ago and he said he would prefer I didn't. He likes long straight hair. It may be a southern man thang.....IDK

my babe prefers longer curly hair, so now that i am transitioning and he can see my curls, its like it put some "ack right" ON HIM... but I know I cant BC into a TWA 1) I cant do crap with my hair 2)SO would have a royal ***** fit

so I try to change it up a bit by doing bantu knots, braids outs, twist outs, etc...

I wont BC until my natural hair is hoovering over my shoulders...... (20 yrs. later....)

my hubby always knew me with long straight hair......23+ years of it.

all through transitioning, he was aw'ight with the natural-type styles and that was just because my hair was still long. It wasn't until i BC'd that he got a little annoyed....naw, that's too hard of a term......maybe more like :ohwell:.

his :ohwell: wasn't because of going natural and wearing my hair in natural styles, nope. his :ohwell: was because most of my hair had now become squirrel nest lining :perplexed.

he does not like short hair, my hair was just about the shortest i've ever had it in my life.

now that i'm getting back length, he's getting much happier with my 'do's.

once i reach my goal, ray charles could part my hair and i know he really wouldn't care less how i wore it :lachen:.

My bf really likes my natural hair...I've mentioned relaxing several times for ease and he's always against it. We were walking one day and he stopped and was like, "I would really rather you didn't do that." His favorite style is when it is big/stretched out and curly.

MY SO loves my hair. I mentioned getting a relaxer so I can wear it straight more often and he told me "NO YOU ARE NOT":look:

LOL Must be! My BF was born and raised in the south. One day I had talked to him about going natural, and he was like, "...You can do that if you want. I just don't want it looking NAPPY!" It kind of made me laugh. Then I had to go ahead and dismiss the thought, because that's probably just how my hair would be lookin'!

My SO, loves my hair out, out and straight, out and wavy, out and curly, out and picked out, it doesnt matter. as long as its not contained :)

Hmmm. He touches it more when it's out in a ponypuff and stuff. I don't think he cares as long as it looks nice and he can run his fingers through it.

Most people i've talked to just wanted the hair to look nice no matter what style it was in. Pin straight with no curly spots or curls with defenition, braids that werent fuzzy ect.
And they all seemed to like length, and no fake hair.

I've only met one man (a co-worker) that had a problem with natural hair styles (his girlfriend), i think it was due to ignorance and because she was just getting the hang of it.- But he was saying he couldnt get his fingers through it, she didnt get her hair done often as she used to (he said she wore twists for a month straight and stuff like that), and there werent alot of styles she did like she used to. I put him up on game though.

My SO met me with all natural styles (puffs, twists, twist extensions) and still asked to be my boyfriend. So I assume he isn't against it. I am not sure what his favorite styles are, he hasn't shown partiality to any yet.

My hubby loves my hair straight but he also likes my braid outs too. Right now he doesn't care as long as I don't cut it anymore. Q

No it's not just a southern thing. My hubby is from NY & he was not too happy about me doing the natural thing. When we 1st met I had a blonde TWA. He thought that my hair wouldn't grow. 2 years after we met my hair was shoulder length & he asked why did I walk around bald when my hair would grow. He, too, likes long, straight hair. But he'd settle for long, natural hair.

My SO loves my hair. So no, Southern men don't hate natural hair.

He doesn't gripe about not being able to run his fingers through it. He likes playing in my hair. I'll let him rub it (gently) and twirl my kinky curlies around his finger.

He likes my hair better now that it's healthy and natural rather than when it was relaxed (or burnt as he calls it) and breaking off. In the end, he just prefers healthy hair period, but if you're going to relax it, just take care of it. In the past couple of years, my relaxed hair wasn't the hotness, so I could see why, lol.

He agrees with me that my hair has more character now than it did when it was relaxed.
