How does everyone else tweak their regimen during winter?

I'm a 4a/b natural and so far I've only replaced my natural oils with hair butters to seal after moisturizing, and I'm gonna wear braids instead of two strand twists as a protective style. I read this great article in SBH about winter hair care, haven't applied all the tips yet.

Thanks for the input ladies! It doesn't get freezing cold here in SoCal...although this past winter has been a trip! LOL
But I was still wondering if I was supp to do something different now that it's cold, or if it didn't even matter...

I feel like the winter cold and the summer heat are equally damaging. So I do the same thing during both, daily moisture from rinsing or dampening my hair and lots of oil to protect my ends.

I do a lot more protective styling like braids during the winter months. I don't like my hair ends exposed to the effects of the harsh winter weather. Not good for my hair. I spray my homemade moisturizer on it daily also to keep my natural hair within the braids well moisturized.

I do more rollersets in the winter- Texas humidity kills my sets in the summer. I pretty much use the same regimen product wise year-round.

I typically do the same my regime does not change protective styling and moisturing every other day.

Even here in socal, I moisturize more becaue my hair will get dryer with the use of heaters and in the cold. I also make sure I seal with just a smidge more camellia oil on the ends everyday.

During winter I moisturize every night, I don't leave the house with damp hair, and I hide my ends. During the summer I'll do co washes for wash n go styles, braidouts and use less heavy moisturizers.

I've done 3 new things this winter:

  • Upped my deep conditioning with heat sessions to 2-3 times per week!
  • discovered AO Honey Suckle Rose conditoner - which is a godsend!
  • added Homemade whipped shea butter to seal!

I deep condition more and use more butters than oils, i also make sure I wear protective styles a lot, London winters can be HARSH on my fine 4a/b strands.
