How Do You Shampoo Just The Scalp and not the hair?

I've been seeing this and it just hasnt registered with me. I get the shampoo to my scalp via my hair:lachen:. So what should I be doing that I am not doing now?

You could put your shampoo in a bottle with a pointed tip like the kind they use for coloring hair. I only co-wash so I cover all my hair. I only use shampoo when I relax and even then I cover all my hair and scalp with the neutralizer.

After saturating my hair in water, I put the shampoo on the top of my head. Then massage the glob of shampoo around my scalp. Dip my head back for a second or so to re-wet the lather, and massage some more. Then I "squeegie" the lather down the length of my hair. Massage, squeagie, massage, squeegie. Then I finish with my shower and rinse the poo out when I'm done. You gotta give the poo a few minutes to penetrate and do its job :yep:

With this method, your scalp gets clean and the length of your hair gets clean without being stripped or tangled. HTH!

I separate into 4 sections, wet hair then apply poo w/my fingertips directly to my scalp and massage in. I leave it in and move to the next section and so on until I've done all four. I then go back to the first, split that in half and rinse still using the pads of my fingers to remove from the scalp and let it run down the length as it rinses. I then squegee like Tiffers said. It is possible to do and not get tangles.

This is what I do, but I don't actually separate, just apply it in like 10 sections. When I rinse or rub more vigorously, enough gets on my hair to get it as clean as I want.

My hair is usually in many twists or braids, so I apply shampoo with fingers to the scalp, which is easy to do as there are partings all over. I massage it throughout the scalp to clean. Then I start to spray the water to rinse which makes the suds dilute and easy to flow and I squeeze my hair as the diluted soap runs down the length. I repeat the scalp massage with neat shampoo then squeeze the length with diluted shampoo process if the suds look dirty. But usually, one shampoo usually suffices.

Yeah, I just put it on my fingers, hands massage it into my scalp and rinse it from my scalp. This has helped my hair tremendously. Only time I don't do it is a relax time :) It's great stuff!

After wetting my hair I apply the shampoo to my fingertips then go underneath my hair and massage my scalp with my fingertips. When im done with the shampoo i keep massaging and then let the water run down the hair and squeeze out. I only get build-up on my scalp so doing it this way works best for me.

I wanted to know how you ladies did this also...thanks for asking PrettyFace. I will use the greaseing of the scalp with the poo and see how that works.

I wash my hair in sections, but using a shampoo bar is key. I can easily put it where I want it without having any runoff! Usually shampoo bars don't have SLS or SLES in them, so I don't mind as much if it does get on my hair.

The idea is not to shampoo the length of your hair directly. I squeeze some shampoo in my hands and rub them together like before applying lotion, then I run my fingers through the roots of my hair. I do this until I have enough in my hair to produce a good lather. Then I just massage my scalp for a minute or two and rinse. The shampoo runs over the length of my hair as I rinse it out I never put shampoo directly on it. Hope that helps.

this is what i do...

I usually do a prepoo (coating my hair with oil or conditioner) before I shampoo (I like Giovanni shampoos because they are sulfate free :)). Anyway, I usually take a small amount of shampoo and just focus on the top part of my head and underneath my hair (where the scalp is). This way I am cleansing my scalp of dirt and debris but I'm not stripping my hair. When you rinse out the shampoo the cleanser is going to run through the end of your strands, and that's enough to get them clean. The end result is that your hair won't be dry or stripped.

I braid or twist my hair in to big sections and then dilute my poo in an applicator bottle and apply the shampoo that way.

That is the best method for me.

i use an empty dr bronner's bottle, the big one, and put some of the castile soap in, then fill it up with warm filtered water, shake it up, wet my hair in the shower, pour the diluted soap on my scalp, pat it around and then rinse.

i use the peppermint soap in the summer and it feels soooo good! it's very refreshing.

i've also patted soap lather on my scalp using a chagrin valley shampoo bar. that worked well.

i only do this in the warmer weather though cause i can go out with damp hair
