How do you Post a Picture?

Hi ladies,

For the longest time now, I've been trying to figure out how to get a picture on my avatar. I have a Mac and when I click on the browse button (on the edit avatar section) I click on pictures, than I select the image I want, and wait for it to load, but it keeps on saying upload failed. What am I doing wrong?
